FREE BAS RUTTEN

Now that the UFC is putting together another broadcast team I hope there is at least serious consideration that Bas Rutten will get the "colour" job.

"El Guapo" for, those green in nature, retired as the UFC Heavyweight champ in 1999 after blowing out his knee and left the sport on a 22 fight undefeated streak at 21 – 0 - 1.

Bas did an awesome job as the Pride commentator and to this day remains, in my opinion, the best the sport has had to offer. His 1-2 combo of wit and expertise leaves the competition looking and sounding like they just took a patented liver kick.

There seems to be some animosity between Bas and Dana ( possibly Bas promoting Pride when they were in competition with the UFC) but hopefully whatever the beef is it can be rightfully squashed. It always seemed a shame to me that Bas was not part of the current UFC as he is definitely part of their history.

The only thing to do as I see it is to rally the faithful and try to encourage both parties to get their shit together and continue to work to elevate the sport only now as allies like it always should have been.

If you wish to lend a hand help me tweet bug or do whatever it takes to persuade Bas and the UFC to rejoin forces and to pressure HDNet to " FREE BAS RUTTEN"

There has been so many funny moments that Bas has shared with us fans but here is my personal favourite: the time when I knew Bas was worthy of my admiration in and out of the ring/cage.
