Jim Hettes: It doesn't matter what color my belt is, I can't carry it into the cage

After UFC sophomore Jim Hettes ran a grappling clinic on Nam Phan back at UFC 141: "Lesnar vs. Overeem," color commentator Joe Rogan wondered aloud how "The Kid" was only a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

Perhaps it's time for a promotion?

Hettes is a two-time Keystone State Games Judo Gold Medalist and the head instructor at Northeast Ju-Jitsu in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. "Judo Jim," however, isn't concerned with what color his belt is, just what he can do with his skill set once he's inside the cage.

"I'm not really complaining. You can't really carry the belt with you into the cage. I just like jiu-jitsu because it prevents me from getting beaten up, so whatever color belt I am doesn't really matter to me."

Hear more from the undefeated phenom, after the jump.
