After tonight's event, here's the fights the UFC should be making, starting with the two most obvious (and confirmed) ones:
Silva VS Sonnen 2. According to White they are going to get a soccer stadium for this event, this could arguably be the biggest ever UFC fight in history, with the hype around it, the past fight between them, the venue, Silva's legacy etc etc.
Jones vS Evans. Just like the above fight, this is going to be another blockbuster event because of the bad blood and history between these 2, they trained with each other, fell apart with each other in public, everything's been set for a great fight between the two.
Other fights that should be made:
Bisping VS Maia, these two were originally scheduled to fight tonight but were re-shuffled around due to injuries, as both are coming of a loss, it makes perfect sense to pair them up against one another.
Weidman VS Munoz, After tonight's victory, as well as his win streak, you could say that Weidman has put himself right up there in the MW division, and the only competition for him is to go up, and who better to face than a returning Munoz? Both are good wrestlers, so it makes for a good match up, if Munoz wins, then he get's his title shot.
Russow VS Shane Del Rosario, Russow definitely has earned the right to step up in competition, and a fighter like Rosario is a step up, Rosario himself is an and up and coming HW who has shown he could be a fighter to be reckoned with, and a fight with Russow is a step up in competition for him as well, we will definitely know more about both these fighters after they face each other and after we get a winner.
Phil Jones VS Matyushenko, it's a step down in competition for Davis, but as both he as and Matyushenko are coming of losses, makes sense to pair them up. Davis is still young, coming up, and learning, so a fight with Matyushenko will do him good, the UFC could decide to pair Jones with Machida, which was a fight scheduled for December, and as Machida is also coming off a loss, so this could be a potential match up. But I don't believe such a match up making too much sense, I don't believe Davis is ready to fight Machida, Davis struggled with Lil Nog, struggled with Evans, so I don't think he's ready for the top tier competition just yet, and it's also unfair on him to throw him with the big boys, give him some time, let him build his game, and then throw him in again to see how he fairs.
So there you go, those are the match ups I personally would make after tonight's event, sounds like good fights to me, would really look forward to Bisping VS Maia.
