Chael Sonnen vs Michael Bisping full fight video highlights from UFC on FOX 2

Chael Sonnen works his way to a somewhat controversial unanimous decision victory over Michael Bisping in the co-main event of the UFC on Fox 2: "Evans vs. Davis" card tonight (Sat., Jan. 28, 2012) that took place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. With the victory, Sonnen earns a middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva, which is likely to take place in a soccer stadium in Brazil, possibly in June. Don't expect it to take long, though, before Sonnen lights the fire on the hype for what should prove to be one of the most highly anticipated rematches in the history of the promotion. Cheal deserved 30-27 win...

Before you discredit this statement think about it….he had take downs in every round which was the only action of an uneventful fight. The only thing bisbing had was that he looked less tired but that doesn’t count if he’s not executing.

He stuffed some take downs, landing cleaner shots, and held him against the cage.

That scores for control, damage, and aggression. He got dominated (mostly just lay’d on) in round 3. All Chael wanted to do was lay on him but Bisping was dictating the pace of the fight, which is why I think he deserved the nod.

took his back and mount...the most significant moves of the fight

also, IMO chael landed better strikes but i’ll have to go back and watch

It was close to be honest.

Both guys have a good case for the win, but I don’t think Chael won all 3 rounds to say the least.

Bisping landed more punches and did damage in the clinch a few take downs should not equal unanimous decision

Chael had his back, got full mount, was landing some solid shots on the ground, and the feet. Bisping landed some shot but did no damage.

i sat there and watched this fight closely and

im just not seeing all these Bisbing strikes that everyone is talking about…I think you’re getting confused with the fact that Chael looked tired but I think Chael actually landed better strikes

I thought Chael would steamroll Bisping..

But I must say Pissping has some takedown defense, throws volume punchers and at least appears to do some damage with his strikes….Chael and his doubles are reknown and he couldn’t stop but a few… I think what it really boils to is an awful performance by Sonnen…Anderson showed great resiliency in finishing a tough arduous fight in the 5th…
I honestly think if Chael comes in looking like this (sans the roids) Andy will get it down quicker and in even more spectacular fashion.

You don't have to damage a fighter to win.

Jake shields does pussy punches and he still wins due to his opponent not being able to hit him most of the time. Roy Nelson beat Kimbo by baby punches as well but if they’re hitting you, you’re not where you want to be.

You are saying that Bisping, who has like 60% KO/TKO rate throughout his UFC career is pitter patter, while your boy Chael has NEVER KO/TKO’ed anyone in his entire UFC career. Funny stuff.

If he “does no damage” how is he getting all these stoppages via KO/TKO? I don’t get it. Is someone else coming in the cage and doing it?

Chael looked tired but

he also won decisively. I think he gained too much weight in the off season and had to cut a lot… hopefully he’ll learn his lesson here

Chael looked like crap and this takes the hype out of the silva rematch.

Don’t forget that Bisping should have had a point taken as well. At least 8 warnings for holding the fence and shorts…

Chael is the master… of the snow job. I can’t believe how many people suddenly think he is 1- a great fighter 2- an exciting fighter or 3- a power puncher.

He is a BORING fighter with a slightly over .500 UFC record and he has NEVER KO’d or TKO’d anyone in 10 fights the UF and 3 in the WEC. He rarely even puts a mark on his opponent’s face.

I would have scored that fight a draw. Neither fighter did much of anything and I wouldn’t want to reward either of them with a win.

This isn’t Japanese MMA you fools, each round is scored separately. Bisping took 2 rounds, Chael took 1.

Under the system we have, Bisping won the fight.

There was nothing controversial about the decision, Sonnen won all 3 rounds. I seriously have no idea what the hell Joe Rogan was seeing out there but he sounded ridiculous scoring the first 2 rounds for Bisping.

I’ll give The Count props for making Sonnen earn it but getting off of your back and stalemating Sonnen against the cage doesn’t win you a fight when you get taken down every round. 30-27 was the clear call, Bisping didn’t do anything to win any rounds and unless your blinded by the Sonnen hate I don’t see any justifications to score it otherwise.

"@bigfootsilva, I want to tell you a joke so funny it will make your head grow. It goes like this..Oh wait, I see you have already heard it." -Chael Sonnen

Wow...

One highlight for Bisping, and it’s at the very end…

Cool.

I had Sonnen winning 29-28.

Chael just edged the first for me. The early takedown and aggression won him the round over Bisping’s cleaner strikes and clinch work.
