Shortly after the UFC on FOX 2: "Evans vs. Davis" weigh-ins took place today (Fri., Jan. 27, 2012) in Chicago, Illinois, Ariel Helwani caught up with middleweight co-main event match-up participants Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping to give them one final chance to come face-to-face to trade shots before they get down to business inside the Octagon tomorrow night.
Sonnen goes back to his usual schtick:
"I don't walk around looking into cameras and telling people I'm the best fighter in the world to hear myself talk. I say it for the same reason they put warnings on packages of cigarettes. And fighting Chael Sonnen may be hazardous to one's health."
Bisping has grown tired of it and brings the heat just as heavy (if not more so):
"Yeah, that's probably why he walks around with a fake middleweight world title belt. I'm not interested in fake belts; I'm interested in the real belt. I'm in a fight with Chael Sonnen but unfortunately just lately he's starting to look like a court jester as opposed to a fighter and Saturday night I'm going to make him look like the fool that he's become."
Sonnen would go on to say that now that the disclaimer is out of the way, if "The Count" shows up tomorrow night, whatever happens is on his hands. The Brit gave his props for another good line but reiterated that he'll be putting Sonnen in his place at the United Center.
Tired of all this talking, Maniacs? Me too. It won't be long, though, before the cage door closes and none of this matters anymore.

As good as he was at *hyping fight, he’s equally, if not better, at turning regular people into MMA haters. FOX was the worst idea for Chael. That kinda garbage was cool and funny in junior high. Please stop it Chael. You’re giving a good sport a bad name.

His act is really growing old, showing is immaturity and is so delusional and factually wrong that’s it’s really not entertaining. Bisping clearly won that exchange.
Chael IS NOT “undisputed”,“undefeated” or the champion of anything!
Chael’s lost 11 times! He’s been sub’d a staggering EIGHT TIMES, KO’d 2 and only loss 1 by decision.
His schtik is bad for the casual fan who is truly going to be confused by who the champion is, what the records are and if this is for real or just a pro wrestling stunt. Dana is doing the sport a big dis-service to allow him to walk around masquerading as the champion.

they compared Chael to Ali for christ’s sake, easily the greatest hyperbole of the new millennium and should remain as such until the end of it… I can’t believe anyone finds him anywhere near the intelligence, whit, creativity, or relevance of Ali… That is downright verbal diarrhea. As for this exchange, thanks for making MMA look like pro wrestling Sonnen (not not really you fucktard). That was the stupidest and most awkward exchange between fighters I’ve ever seen and it wasn’t even slightly entertaining; if I were Bisping I would’ve just walked away, it was embarrassing to even be in present for such a ridiculous spewing….

Convicted felon Chael is bad for the sport.
There are very little facts that come out of Chael Sonnen’s mouth. Unfortunately, it isn’t just a stunt because he is a perpetual liar, quite possible clinically pathological.
The irrefutable facts on Chael is that he is: (sources below)
1). a convicted felon
2). Guilty of taking steroids.
3). Lied directly to the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).
4). Lied about having conversations with NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer.
5). Is not licensed to fight in Nevada as a result of his lies to the NSAC.
6). Lied about conversations with Lance Armstrong.
7). Lied about doing radio and video interviews that were documented on video.
8). As lost 11 times on his professional MMA record.
9). As been choked or sub’d a STAGGERING 8 times.

I didn’t say Chael was bad for MMA because he’s a convicted felon.
I said that Chael’s pathological lies aren’t just attempts at hyping a fight because he lies in every aspect of his life. He doesn’t say anything of substance. It’s all out dated phrases and one-liners, most of which are completely inapplicable and out of context to the subject matter. Pretending to be the undefeated, undisputed champion is a complete disservice to MMA.
Unfortunately, Mob Boss Dana is on an equal adolescent maturity level where he lacks the intelligence to actually realize how a fighter in his organization masquerading as an undefeated, undisputed champion is confusing to the new casual fan that the UFC is trying to covet. Is this a legitimate sport or a pro wrestling production filled with choreographed stunt men?

Go watch tape of all the crazy claims Ali used to make even when he didn’t have a belt. There have been tons of boxers who talked crazy game that didn’t make sense – some entertaining and some not so much. But people always watched. They got attention. They put butt’s in the seats even when it was people like you who watched because they hated so much

Wow – listen, Ali was charismatic and entertaining but he never was found guilty of cheating, never convicted of a felony, never lied to commissioners, never denied licenses as a result of lying or cheating, never denied making comments that he was on the record as making.
Ali NEVER walked around with a fake belt, called himself undefeated or undisputed when he had lost 11 professional fights, claimed to when medals and world championships that he NEVER won.
Chael has done all of those things. That is not “hyping” a fight, that is disturbing, pathological behavior.
There is no comparison to hyping a fight and lying about who and what you are.
Please, if you have references of Ali being as much of a liar and crook and Chael Sonnen, please post them for us!

That's a really good point daniel.
I agree that I don’t think Chael has even answered 1 single question from the media in quite a while. He has choreographed about 5-6 responses (in elementary poetry) to answer every single question asked of him.
ex. “Are you gonna walk out to the octogon with your MW belt?”
“I went to bed with this belt. You’re looking at the….” blah blah blah.
Anyone can practice cheesy 2-liners in the mirror, and anyone can be an asshole. It’s actually easier to be an aggravated asshole, then to put some wholesome sense into context.
I never liked his gig to begin with, seen right through it. And he has now managed to make himself look far worse as of late.
