UFC on FOX 2 tickets sold out for 'Evans vs Davis' at United Center in Chicago
Tickets for UFC on Fox 2: "Evans vs. Davis" in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 28, 2012, today sold out, according to a press release from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that was issued earlier this evening.
The sophomore effort by the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion on network television is set to take place at the 20,000-seat United Center, which is home to the NBA's Bulls and the NHL's Blackhawks.
UFC President Dana White was, unsurprisingly, thrilled to make the announcement:
"The fans in Chicago have wanted us to come back there for a long time and they proved why it's a great sports town by selling out the United Center. Get ready Chicago! We're bringing a night of fights that you won't forget!"
The last (and only other) time the organization ventured near the "Windy City" was with UFC 90: "Silva vs. Cote" at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont back in Oct. 2008.
UFC on FOX 2 features a main event between top 205-pound contenders Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis, which will earn "Suga" the next light heavyweight title shot against Jon Jones this summer if he can pull off the victory.
In the co main event, Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping will collide for the next crack at UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, while another middleweight clash -- Demian Maia vs. Chris Weidman -- will round out the televised main card.
It's going to be very entertaining night of fights, which is apparently attracting a significant amount of interest based on the terrific ticket sales.
Remember that even though that UFC on Fox 2 tickets are sold out, they can still be purchased through StubHub.com. It will also be available to watch right in your living room on the local FOX network at 8 p.m. ET on fight night.
