UFC on FX 1: "Guillard vs. Miller" from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $45,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "Music City" with a second sack of simoleons.
You didn't know who Nick Denis was before tonight but you most certainly should after those vicious standing hell-bows he dropped on Joseph Sandoval. This man literally stood next to his opponent, landed about four elbows straight to the dome and knocked a guy clean out.
If that ain't "Knockout of the Night," I don't know what is.
It was also fairly obvious who was taking home "Submission of the Night" honors after Jim Miller put Melvin Guillard in a vice grip and choked his $45K out of him in the main event of the evening. That's the second time in a row this has happened to "The Young Assassin," who also found himself tapping to Joe Lauzon back at UFC 136 in Oct. 2011.
Speaking of "J-Lau," he threw a little salt in the wound with this post-fight tweet: "Some people never learn... That looked familiar." Cold-blooded.
Finally, in a bit of a surprise, Pat Barry and Christian Morecraft were awarded "Fight of the Night" despite their fight ending via knockout inside the opening frame. "HD" escaped a few submission attempts before connecting with one of his meathooks but the Mike Easton vs. Jared Papazian bantamweight battle was a far more spirited affair. It also went the distance.
But hey, what's $45 grand amongst friends?

Again, each fighter received $45,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.

he took a guy that easily beat the current TUF winner (who is amazingly enough included in title talks after the 125 tourney) into deep water on two weeks notice. It doesn’t hurt that he fights i one of the weakest divisions in MMA.

It doesnt reinforce my belief in good judging. Not sure how anyone can give round 3 to Easton. I was suprised Papazian gassed in the third after going 5 rounds in 3 out of his last 4 and claiming to always be in shape.
It was actually a fun event. I started watching on DVR at 10:45 and was done before midnight after watching the Fuel and Fx cards. A bunch of squash matches, but some good new blood for feeder fights came out of last night. My only critique is hearing Anik talk about the “high level” grappling/striking/wrestling that was going on in every fight.

the announcers were horrible. I didn’t know which was which so I’ll lump them together, but it really seemed like some kids practicing in their basement rather than a primetime show on a real channel.

Kenny did a really good job, especially in the Barry fight

i was actually suprised by Anik and Florian, i thought they were pretty good. I wasn’t so keen on the cheesy music at the end of the fight, other than that i thought it was pretty good, definately has room for improvement though.

fun card with good prelims that were all televised which was nice. I loved Facebook but now you could DVR the prelims if you want instead of having to watch them live. I just wish fuel was in HD because it’s just not the same ufc quality in shitty s.d.
