UFC on FX: Pat Barry vs Christian Morecraft fight video preview

The big boys will be slinging that heavy leather tomorrow night (Fri., Jan. 20, 2012) at the UFC on FX 1: "Guillard vs. Miller" event at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, as lovable loser (of his last two fights) Pat Barry, returns to take on Christian Morecraft.

For his part, Barry says it doesn't matter that he was knocked out and submitted in his last two fights, respectively:

"It doesn't matter what happened in the last two fights, it doesn't matter what the next 10 fights I have, it's always extremely important for me to find my range as soon as the bell rings, as quick as possible, because that's where I'm the most dangerous. I'm expecting the best possible Christian Morecraft I've ever seen. That's always the expectation; I'm expecting Mike Tyson every time I step inside the Octagon. He lost to Stefan Struve and so did I but I was beating Stefan Struve. He lost to Matt Mitrione but I think I might have beaten Matt Mitrione this morning twice in my head, so that's fine. Have I found, in his fights, have I seen openings, things that I can capitalize on? Yes. But I have become one of knowing now that you never know what's going to happen until Friday night."

Morecraft knows to be ready for whatever but makes his game plan clear:

"I gotta just be on my 'A' game. Be focused and and I gotta close the distance and take the right shots and do the right things to take him down, keep him down, and submit him. I have to stick with the game plan, I have to execute and just get it done. You can't just plan one way to win, there's several different ways. I just can't wait to fight, man. I know he's a brawler and he's got some vicious strikes. It's going to be fun, man, putting on a show for these people out here."

The fun goes down tomorrow night, Maniacs. Who ya' got in this one?

I agree , Barry vs Mitrione would be an awesome fight. I’d give the edge to Barry slightly .

The fight should be real competitive though , that would be a great fight for fans , it’s too bad we will never see it.

It’s a shame Barry can’t get down to 205 , but honestly I don’t think he would become a striking god down there or anything. Barry relies heavily on his speed advantage over most guys at HW , that would disappear at LHW.

I don’t think Varry would be to opposed to fighting a friend/training partner. Seems like he would have fun with it since he had fun fighting Cro Cop, one of his idols.
I think I might give the edge to Mitrione tho. Barry is better when he can jump in and out and use traditional kickboxing. N Mitrione is always game for a scrap

I think that Kongo will beat Barry 10 out of 10 times or the following reasons.

1. Kongo’s recovering ability is the best I have ever seen, save for maybe Edgar.

2. Barry lacks that killer instinct, and his inability to end the fight by submission.

So really 3 reasons.

Just like you could argue that Barry would be more patient when Kongo was rocked in the rematch

you could argue that Kong would get the takedown in the rematch imo. I’d go with Kongo TKO’ing Barry on the ground in the rematch. Barry would be too tentative.

Kongo is another fighter you wouldn’t bet big on though.

I know Barry would find some ridiculous way to lose that fight the way he usually does but I still think it would be good for him stylistically.

Sakuraba beats Silva, Aoki would beat Miller and Vitor Belfort didn't deserve his title shot - In my opinion, the craziest points I've read on this site...
