I have too much time on my hands and wrote whole predictions over the last week or so. I want to know everyone elses
Who do you have winning on Saturday??? I just wanted to look at the pretty ladies first.....

-Pyle over Funch by submission
-Omigawa over Alcantara by split decision
-Gonzaga over Oliveira by TKO or decision
-Tavares over Stout by split decision (Fight of the night?)

-Prater over Silva by decision
-Palhares over Massenzio by submission
-Belfort over Johnson by TKO in the first or second

Prater is being overlooked, (yes I know he's a late replacement)
He’s fought better competition, he is a Golden Gloves boxer, he has on paper better grappling skills and has a lot more experience, he’s only 30 years old, in his own prime. He has a better chance than people are giving him, I think he can win in a close decision. Click on part two up there I have my break down on why I think he has a chance on there…

I understand why if that’s the case. A lot of people say I have made odd picks yet I read other previews on this site and a few others, save one or two fights I pick the same things and for the same reasons. I wrote these over the past week or so and it’s not like I’m just now reading their choices.

actually, i’ve come to learn that you have to go against the grain on a few fights to be successful on any given week in the money pool. I’ve always been very conservative with my picks, and i always finish with a top 10 or top 15 score, but i’ve never won a week with that strategy. Top 10 is nice, but who gives a shit if you’re not 1st!! The key isn’t just going against the grain, but doing so on the right fights. I plan to be more agressive this season.

I don’t really want to do the free pool or the money pool, I’m just doing a lot of picking right now because the semester doesn’t start until next week. I’ll probably not have time like I have the past month to do some much bullshitting online.

sam stout – dont care who wins, going to be brilliant
AJ – vitor is unreliable and will mentally fail us
mike massenzio – harris will jump out of the cage and run naked through the crowd
Erick silva – he’s good…
Edson barboza – ufc make favorable match ups for guys they want to market
Yuri – because he is a destroyer of men.

I agree Omigawa is really inconsistent and hasn’t done great in the UFC, but he’s got a shot over Yuri.
I know it’s very possible that Vitor breaks mentally, but he seems to be doing well over the past few years. His loss to Silva not withstanding, because he didn’t break mentally in that, he got caught by something no one saw coming.

I can see that happening if Vitor breaks early in the fight mentally
but the Johnson/Belfort fight is really close.

It will all come down to whether or not Vitor will bring it.
I don’t think AJ will have any problems on that, specially with the easier cut. I have mixed feelings towards this fight because although I like Vitor and would like him to bounce back, I think AJ would be a much needed breathe of fresh air to the MW division and I would even like to see a Silva vs. Johnson match-up.

I don't think Johnson is fast enough/smooth enough in his striking to hang
with Belfort or Silva. Very few fighters can.
I think Belfort will be on for this fight, but I can see what you mean about Johnson

I’m all for bringing in contenders in a division that lacks some of the talent of other weight classes.
Stann is developing, so is Munoz. There are guys who have half a chance to improve enough to be champions…. a lot of progress would have to be made to their skills sets. Stann is still the striker, but he’s gotten his blue belt in BJJ and he’s getting better, his defensive wrestling his his biggest weakness.
but yeah, if Johnson is ready to be a contender that would be awesome for the division as a whole, but Vitor isn’t done yet… at least I don’t think he is…. I am an idiot who doesn’t know shit though. :P

We all are, all we can do is guess and work with the fights that have already happened.
The MW division will appear a lot better after Silva retires. Look at what Jones did to LHW, we all praised how deep and stacked it was, and after his 2011 run we can’t name 4 title contenders.

Silva can easily win, good idea to him but I’m not counting Prater out because he has a better chance than what people give him
I don’t know if Johnson is ready for the step up in competition and that’s what Belfort really is…

That's right, phisically and skill-wise Belfort is definitely tougher than Johnson's previous wins.
I would love to see some Belfort jiu jitsu if gets taken down. He is (at least in pure BJJ competitions) very good but it is an underutilized weapon in his MMA arsenal.

when you knock everyone out? I see your point. But Johnson brought up an interesting point in the countdown video “I’m a black belt in wrestling” you have to consider that, I don’t think Johnson has the striking chops to beat Vitor on the feet, so if he wrestles him Vitors BJJ could be as saving grace if Johnson takes it down to the ground….
This fight is going to be interesting.

I like his striking and his grappling, but his legs are going to be mauled by Barbozas leg kicks. and his chin isn’t the best, he’s been rocked in a lot of his fights and Barboza hits really hard for a lightweight.
A lot of people are picking Belfort and a lot are picking Johnson… it’s probably the most debated fight I’ve seen…

Yeh i think all depends on what Rumbles gameplan is, is he gonna stand and trade or is he going to take it to the ground and just try and control the whole fight. I hope that Gonzaga can pull it off also would be good to see him get the finish like you predicted.

picked Gonzaga to win the striking game but rock him enough to submit him in the first round.
I don’t think Johnson has the standup game to beat Belfort that way… he’ll get caught if it happens. His best bet is to mix it up with take downs and ground and pound, if he wins it’s gonna be a Randy Couture style beatdown on Belfort, otherwise I don’t think it’s going to happen…. then again I don’t know shit

I think Aldo/Mendes is really overlooked, and will be FOTN
most of the attention has been on AJ/Vitor. Mendes will get aldo down, (if he’s smart he will shoot more high crotches than doubles, to avoid the knee on the way in) and hold him there for a little bit and even doing some damage. Aldo will get back up though, and will easily outstrike mendes.
Aldo by tko in the 4th, and it will be a barn burner before that. Mendes is not scared to strike, and when he realizes he cant keep aldo down, he will try to stand and bang.

Aldo by TKO, knee and punches – He’s got pretty good TDD so I think he’ll be able to keep it standing, and hwile his stamia get’s suspect in the later rounds I think he can finish it by then.
Rumble by Decision – Wrestlefest all night. Rumble would be stupid to stand with Vitor.
Palhares by removing a limb – The second it hits the ground, it’s over.
Silva by Decision – Prater’s good enough to survive the full 15 mins, but I think it’s gonna be pretty lopsided on the scorecards.
Etim by Decision – While I don’t think he’s as technically sound on the feet as Edson, I think he can keep up with him, speed-wise, and so will survive. Those legs kicks will be punishing though, so he needs to take Barboza down at least a couple times in the fight.

Barboza is arguably better on the ground even if we haven't seen much of it
at least belt wise but belts don’t mean a lot in the cage sometimes(see hettes/phan)
I agree Rumble would be dumb to stand with Vitor, but I think he might be cocky enough to try it.
Palhares is an easy pick unless he does something dumb… again

I must say first, Chandella looks significantly out of place next to the hot chicks
Now, my picks were Pyle, Omigawa, Gonzaga, and Stout. Went .500 there :/ my main card picks are Etim by Dec., Prater by ?(though I’m very uncertain, only seen each guy once), Paul Harris by Sub., Vitor by TKO, and Aldo by Dec. Although I’m definitely cheerin for Massenzio lol. Got any good fights I can look up of Prater? You seem to know a good amount of him, read your posts.

He won but only on Paper… I went 9 for 10 but I don’t feel that way…
