UFC Quick Quote: Phil Davis says give the next title shot to Dan Henderson
"Give it to Hendo. I ain't losing. Give it to Hendo. I don't care either way. You can give it to Hendo and there will still be a belt when I get there. There will still be a belt when I get there. I don't care who the person is that has the belt but there will be a belt when I get to it and that's all that I'm concerned about. If somebody else gets to fight the champ before I do, that's fine with me."
-- He may be confident, but undefeated UFC light heavyweight Phil Davis has no problem waiting in line for a title shot. While speaking with MMAmania.com earlier today, "Mr. Wonderful" seemed to have no issue whatsoever with the recent news that Dan Henderson could potentially fight UFC 205-pound champion Jon Jones next, even if Davis were to upset current number one contender Rashad Evans at UFC on Fox 2 later this month. According to Dana White on the debut of "UFC Tonight," "Hendo" called him up "terrorizing him for another fight" just one week after his war with Mauricio Rua. Training out of Alliance MMA, Davis is still a work in progress, having not even competed in Ultimate Fighting Championship for two years. If the 2008 Division I wrestling champion can play spoiler to Rashad Evans' title aspirations, do you feel the potential extra time would do him good before earning a crack at UFC gold?

Davis
Davis is the second version of jones all he has to do is out wrestle evans and strike him against the fence to win

That's why Rashad will win:
more experience using MMA based wrestling.
Long time reader.
First time poster.
What do you expect from someone who said
Davis is the second version of Jones
LOL No he’s not. He doesn’t have Jones’ talent or learning curve when it comes to picking up a well rounded MMA game. He’ll improve but will most likely never come close to reaching Jones’ level even at this point where Jones’ still hasn’t peaked yet.
Credible P4P Rankings.
#1: Silva (destroys top fighters making them look like they don't belong and has done it for years)
#2: Jones (destroys everybody including top guys)
#3: GSP (long time champ but can't stop people that others can who aren't blown up LWs which isn't so dominating compared to #1 and #2... hence P4P)

He really doesn't have that great of a body
A lot of you have obviously never visited a gym. He’s got wide lats, but he’s also flexing them in all of these pics and they’re really nothing special. And he has non-existent traps. Rashad has a better, more well rounded and attractive physique. Plus the fact Rashad is twice the fighter Davis is.
Gotta agree
Phil just looks freakish….Chicks do not dig this type of build.

The fact his shoulders look like they could fit a family of pigeons better than a fucking powerline
Looks a little stupid does it not? They’re fucking straight across without a trace of trap muscle. Looks goofy as hell.
Thats partly the angle
Look at the pic in the article. He has some trap muscle
Politics is just one big ass blast.
I really like this attitude
Doesn’t care who he’s gotta fight cus he thinks hell beat them all
Good luck to you sir

Phil is improving every fight seems pretty good atm with that said Rashad is better at everything so hopefully Phil at least is stronger to try and even out the skill disparity
If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
Submissions
Rashad is NOT better than P. Davis when it comes to submissions…although if Rashad lands a bomb, that may not matter.

No one gave Rashad a shot against Liddell
I can see Davis taking Rashad down and keeping him there or subbing him
Rashad is a good wrestler with better standup but Davis has a different level of athleticism and wrestling, along with size
Davis’s athleticism could see his standup explode too, like Rashad’s did against Chuch or Cain’s did against Nog.
I'm not even a Rashad fan
But decimation will ensue. Davis has nothing for Rashad. You think Davis is really gonna be able to take Rashad down and hold him for 15 minutes? All Rashad has to do is stuff the takedown, something even Lil Nog was able to accomplish for the majority of their fight, and he’s gonna box his face off.
Rashad likes to stay on the outside and explode in with punches or takedowns.
Except he’ll be tentative about taking down Phil and not want to initiate any grappling exchanges. Phil will have a hard time closing the distance, but if he does I see him getting the better of the grappling exchanges. Rashad hasn’t fought many fighters who focus on take downs, but when he does he gets taken down. Tito got him down in both his fights and Sean Salmon got him down a couple of times. Phil Davis has taken down every fighter he’s fought in the ufc. While I personally think this fight will look like a very awkward kickboxing match and Rashad will get the better of it, you are overlooking Davis. He has a legit chance in this fight.
“All Rashad has to do is stuff the takedown, something even Lil Nog was able to accomplish for the majority of their fight”
Well, Tito got Rashad down in there 2nd fight on very short notice (I know it wasn’t for very long) but Tito couldn’t take down Lil Nog with a full training camp. You see where Im going with this?
Politics is just one big ass blast.
Tito also only half ass tried one takedown in that fight
Davis was 4 for 11 against Lil Nog. And Davis seems to inflict no damage from the top in the fights I remember. And I feel Davis presents no risk in the standup. I would be shocked if Davis can eek out a win here. And if he does, I’m gonna be pissed, I threw down some cash on this fight.
But once Davis took down Nog, he had no problem keeping him there
Davis fought against Nog better than anyone in the UFC. And even though he wasn’t able to take him down in the first, 2 of the judges gave him the first round. As far as gnp Davis does have some good knees to the side, but he does need to work on it… he likes to go for submissions too.
I like Davis and dislike Rashad, so I hope you lose some money ;)
Politics is just one big ass blast.
everyone always talks about that fight with lil nog. I think he didn’t do a lot cuz he didn’t want to start droppin bombs and get caught in a sub. its about matchups and in this fight with no threat of a sub I imagine when Phil gets him down ull see more gnp cuz he has less to worry bout

Rashad Evans
I don’t like his jerk-off name, I don’t like his jerk-off face, I don’t like his jerk-off behavior and I don’t like him, Jerk-off….
That being said… I think that he will win by UD
Rashad 2.0
I think Rashad really turned a corner in his evolution as a complete fighter during his year-long layoff, and we saw it with his return fight against Tito. Yeah yeah, i know Tito’s over-the-hill, Rashad was supposed to win…but I just saw a different Rashad out there.
His beef with Jonny boy has really motivated him and we’re gonna see a Rashad 2.0 when he fights Mr.Wonderful. In saying that, anything can happen…Phil’s the future of the sport…but I think Rashad’s a man on a mission and he’s gonna get his title shot in Montreal.
"You never know. I don't know. You know?" -Nick Diaz
You might be right. I wondered the same thing myself
Rashads MMA wrestling is awesome. Better than Phil Davies I believe. That said, Phil can win this on pure athleticism.
"It's just an abounded mineshaft! You just go climb aound in it!
Yeah I agree
For some reason I see Rashad winning Idk why, seems like that’s supposed to happen so him and JBJ can finally get their “swag jacking” over with lol. Phil and Rashad got into at that last press conference they had, Davis acts like such a white guy lol. Both have a big chance
that's why i like Phil Davis...
he’s a real cool guy, and is just himself….not “acting white”.

no, i didn't.
Jones is the future as well. I just think Phil’s gonna be a good contender for a long time, maybe even a champ.
"You never know. I don't know. You know?" -Nick Diaz
this doesnt change anything
Rashad 2.0 will be victorious
I am willing to test myself against the toughest fighters in the world, in front of hundreds of thousands or even millions of fans, over and over again. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I always come to fight. I've been doing this for the past fourteen years, and I have at least a few more strong years left in me. What have you done in the past fourteen years other than act like a moron on this forum and hang on Anderson's nuts? - Dan Henderson.
