UFC 141 results recap: Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem fight event wrap up from Las Vegas
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back on pay-per-view this past Friday night (Dec. 30, 2011) with UFC 141: "Lesnar vs. Overeem," featuring Alistair Overeem earning his shot at Junior dos Santos and his heavyweight title by sending Brock Lesnar into retirement with a first round technical knockout stoppage.
Nate Diaz also impressed with his three-round unanimous decision win over Donald Cerrone in a 15-minute war of attrition that resulted in everyone going home happy. That's probably because the "Fight of the Night" bonus they earned netted them a cool $75,000.
And that's not even mentioning Johny Hendricks, who put himself on the welterweight map with a 12-second knockout of Jon Fitch.
In cased you missed any or all of it -- or just want to keep the discussion alive -- below are links to all the major storylines borne from Friday night's event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lesnar never looked more scared in his life
I’ve never seen that Lesnar before. He’s always been comfortable and aggressive. Even against Cain, Lesnar bumrushed him at the opening bell.
This time, Lesnar looked like a scared bitch the whole way through, backpedaling and cornered the entire fight. His posture was also defensive and almost like he was just bracing himself for the inevitable.
I just hate fighters who walk in the cage and come out like that. Why even accept the fight if you’re that scared, let alone trash talk?
The ironic part was how he criticized Cain for not taking down JDS. At least Cain was game on the feet, before he got caught. Lesnar never even saw the center of the Octagon. He was backpedaling like he was pleading a loan shark to give him one more day.
I wish i parlayed Diaz with Reem instead of Tito last month.

Am I the only one who thinks the Fitch fight was an early stoppage?
Sure it was a good shot and he got dropped. But i think he could have recovered. Look at Frankie Edgar, he did it. And the shin to the face Fitch took from Gsp was more damaging than the Hendricks left, and he recovered from that. Just cause a guy gets dropped does not mean he’s out. I don’t feel the ref gave him the opportunity to react.

That stoppage was totally justified.
Fitch went out, limp, his system was rebooted. He awoke attempting to protect himself from the ref. If you truely think that was an early stoppage then why even have a ref? Let’s just have the fight end when 1 guy walks out of the cage and the other is unconscious or dead?

Not trolling. It was a flash ko, he wouldn't be the first to recover from one
Just seems the ref ran at the punch to stop it. I think most on here are blinded by the Fitch hate. And just glad he got beat. I grew up wrestling in Oklahoma, trust me I’m a Hendricks fan. But just seems a little premature is all.

Just because it happened for a flash doesn't mean he didn't get ko'd
He got knocked out so the fight is over .
Anything else ?

And if the ref hadn't stepped in
Fitch would’ve kept eating KO shots. He wasn’t defending himself at all. That’s a good stoppage.

Damn you guys are ready to torch a white boy haha
Was just asking. I admit I was a little “blurry” when that fight happened, but that was the impression I got. Have not yet rewatched the fight. Just wondering if I was the only one, apparently I am.

if you haven't rewatched the fight
then stop arguing. Go rewatch it and then all your questions will be answered. It was a perfectly legitimate stoppage. Hands at his sides, head bouncing off the canvas, just gonna get hurt a lot more than he did.

"It’s Mark Pavelich calling from the Maximum Fighting Championship,
I’ve just received notice that Drew Fickett or you, I don’t care which one of you fuckers did it, has signed a contract to fight in Strikeforce this fucking weekend. I’m going to get on a fucking plane soon and go where you’re at and choke you the fuck out. I’m telling you right now, I’ve had enough of your fucking shit. First of all, I’ve sent you the fucking pictures and secondly, I placed Drew Fickett in a fight fucking months ago and five weeks prior to my main event of my fucking fight card. You’re going to give me a fucking call tomorrow or I swear I’ll get on a fucking plane and go right where you’re at right now. You’re pissing me off, I’ve been nothing but professional to you motherfuckers and you’re doing this kind of bullshit, alright? Call me back, I’m fucking pissed."

Going unconscious is a result of brain trauma.
Any way we can minimize that in any sport is a good thing. Say they did let Fitch continue. As Rogan said, he was going to eat another dozen unanswered shots on the ground. Stopping that fight could be the difference between getting concussed and having to eat out of a straw for the rest of your life.
