UFC 137: Carlos Condit ready for Georges St. Pierre but still wants BJ Penn fight

Stay connected for news and updates

B.J. Penn is one of the most decorated champions in the short history of the UFC. That's why it's kind of a big deal to get the opportunity to fight him.

That didn't stop Carlos Condit from immediately accepting a fight against Georges St. Pierre after Nick Diaz went awol and leaving "The Prodigy" in his rear view mirror ... for now.

"The Natural Born Killer" tells MMANation.com he still wants Penn at some point down the road:

"Nah, this title shot has been what I've wanted since I started fighting and I would still like to fight BJ. He's a legend in the sport. I've looked up to him for a very long time and that would be a win that I would want on my record. For now, I've got to capitalize on this moment and go hard and see if I could get this belt."

In the event that Condit is able to dethrone St. Pierre at UFC 137 on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, he may just end up meeting Penn sooner rather than later. That's because the Hawaiian is staying on the card to fight the man Condit replaced, Diaz. A win may very well earn him a title shot ... if it's against Condit.

As the Octagon turns.
