If former welterweight champion B.J. Penn was upset about losing Carlos Condit as his opponent at UFC 137, it sounds like he's gotten over it pretty quickly.
That's because the Hawaiian "Prodigy" today tweeted the following update regarding his participation on the Oct. 29 pay-per-view fight card, which emanates from the MGM Grand Garden Arena is Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dana just offered me a deal I can't refuse.pretty sure I'm still fighting on Oct. 29th.
Let the speculation begin...
Penn is in this position because former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, who was expected to challenge Georges St. Pierre for the division's 170-pound title in the event headliner, was yanked from the "Sin City" fight card after failing to satisfy his media obligations earlier this week.
That led to Condit's field promotion, which unfortunately left Penn stranded at the altar.
Until now.
The rumor mill is already cranking out possibilities now that Penn has teased a new opponent, including a fantasy match-up against reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva and even Diaz himself.
Nothing is official at this time; however, the promotion is expected to make an announcement shortly.
