Two ways to look at this; One being the obvious side of as an MMA fan wanting to see the biggest fights, the other than being that of from the point of view as a man trying to run a business.
Let’s layout the facts as we know them so far:
Dana White had been saying numerous times we would take Nick Diaz
back to the UFC if Nick Diaz ‘can play the game’, meaning follow along with the obligations that come with the job. As such, Nick Diaz failed to show up to a press conference in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday, and then failed to make an appearance Wednesday (today) as well. Dana White said they scheduled and re-scheduled flights for the ‘badboy’ from Stockton on numerous accounts.
Not only did he not fly in, or make the conferences, but Nick Diaz’ coach and mentor, Cesar Gracie called Dana White and as CagePotato.com
(thanks to JP a poster and mondaymorningblackbelt

This is where it really gets weird…
Apparently Gracie explained that he had, had Nick Diaz cornered in his house this Monday, and when he had turned his back for a moment Diaz bolted off running out of the house and has yet to be seen since.
Yeah… Umm.. That’s normal.
In any event, here we are now with Carlos Condit
being taken off the Co Main Event and stepping in for Nick Diaz. Good looking replacement fight, but let’s stick to the situation at task. I mean I don’t wanna be running all over the place on this article like…Like.. Like Nick Diaz from Cesar Gracie…
Diaz was warned by Dana White to ship up or ship out if he were to return. From a mixed martial arts fans point of view, I wanted nothing more than to see this fight occur and put all the speculation to rest. It was going to be a great fight and was highly talked about and sought after by us fans.
As Dana White though, what do I do? I could wait, see what’s up when the dust settles and maybe fine Diaz and allow the fight to remain intact. But what good is this since Dana has apparently been stood up by the fighter twice in as many days and seemingly Dana was doing what he could to help keep the fight afloat? At first I was hoping Dana wouldn’t overreact, but now as more and more details become released to us, it’s clear to see Dana is doing what he can, but cannot sit around idly while his Main Event combatant isn’t showing to help promote the fight that occurs in less than 60 days, and not only that, but has apparently Chris Angel ‘MindFreaked’ and flat out disappeared.
In short, White has every right to fire the troubled Diaz. Unless he wants to put the fighter through some sort of rehabilitation course as this may end up being a result of some sort of drug abuse. I say that entirely as speculation as Diaz has had problems with marijuana and suspensions in the past. That, and a reaction like the one we’ve now come to find out isn’t that of a normal and sane person. I think we will come to find him being fired shortly, but hey who knows what Dana White is thinking right now?
Did Georges St. Pierre
really scare him that bad?
