Consider that hurdle cleared.
After Diego Sanchez broke his hand was forced out of a scheduled match-up against Matt Hughes at UFC 135 on Sept. 24 in Denver, Josh Koscheck immediately stepped up to the plate when called upon by UFC officials.
But there was still some doubt as to whether or not Hughes would take such a tough fight on such short notice. He tweeted today that he's accepted to fight Koscheck ... or his teammate:
"Still waiting to hear back from the UFC. I have said 'yes' to facing either Koscheck or (Jon) Fitch at UFC 135. I should know more later."
It's an interesting development that he mentions accepting to fight Fitch, who was just recently cleared to resume training after suffering a serious shoulder injury that required surgery and a great deal of rehabilitation.
Will he be ready to fight by Sept. 24 though?
That seems unlikely and if Koscheck was already offered the fight and he accepted and Hughes say he's now accepted, it would seem we have an accord. So why no official announcement?
Stay tuned, Maniacs.
