Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem odds: Who opened as the -135 favorite for UFC 141?

According to noted oddsmaker Nick Kalikas of BetOnFighting.com, it's none other than the former Strikeforce Heayvweight Champion Alistair Overeem. "Demolition Man" opens as a -135 favorite headed into his number one contender bout against Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec. 30
Lesnar comes in as the slight underdog at +105..
Anyone jumping on this line with wallets wide open? Or do you expect a dramatic shift as we get closer and closer to fight night?
Overeem has finally made his way to the UFC after 47 fights and more than a decade in the fight game. He was last seen barely scraping by Fabricio Werdum this past June in a bizarre bout in Dallas, Texas. As it turns out, he turned down a title unification bout against the winner of Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos to square off against the Brockness Monster.
Mistake? Or brilliant career move?
Lesnar is coming off a first round shellacking at the hands of new division champion Cain Velasquez, who survived a pasty-faced bumrush at UFC 121 last October to topple the former WWE star and capture the crown.
He was expected to get back on his horse against Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 earlier this year, but was forced to bow out of the Canadian contest to deal with another flare-up of diverticulitis.
That marked the second bout with the deadly intestinal disease, this one strong enough to force him to get surgery to remove 12 inches of his colon. No wonder he's the underdog in his first fight back, right?

Not surprising.
Overeem has an impressive streak and coming off a win. Definitely the better striker. But if Lesnar gets ahold of him it is over for the Dutchman.

You know nothing of Overeem’s ground game if you’re going to stick with that.
You’ve seen Brock maintain top control on ONE guy; Mir… who has terrible wrestling.
Brock could do nothing with his wrestling against Randy, a guy half his size, Cain or even Carwin. Yes they’re good wrestlers but his wrestling has been hyped from the start and we haven’t seen much of it being successful.
Overeem has been on his back before, but let’s see Brock take him down and then do something about it. Reem has a sick guillotine and has 19 wins via sub.

Fact is we really don’t much about Reem as a HW and how he will handle this or that but I do know he is most dangerous early in the fight and thats about it. I think if this turns into a grappling match either way the fight turns in Brocks favor big time. Onlt way I see Reem winning is early in the fight ….he does have power but he fatigues fast and his power is not near as dangerous at the end of the first as it is at the start.

And I think Lesnar would be crazy to stand or clinch with Alistair. Basically Reem has more ways to win but Lesnar’s one way is a dominant force in MMA at the moment. I believe this fight will come down to Overeem’s TDD. You say that means I know nothing of Reem’s ground game. I disagree. How many of those guys he submitted were 280lb Division I championship wrestlers? I hardly believe James Thompson (last guy Reem submitted) and Brock Lesnar are on the same level.

You make a good point but Brock gasses quickly too,
He had an adranline dump and went to hard to fast, you could tell he was jacked(pumped). Any HW fighter besides maybe Cain would as well going at the pace Brock went at in the Werdum and Reem fight there was less action in the 3 rounds than there was the entire Brock and Cain fight.
The proof will come at the end of the year and I can’t wait to find out who’s right:)

Man get your facts straight, Brock Lesnar was forced out of Steroid use when he joined the UFC! They are tested often, and if Overeem does use roids, he will also be forced to stop or face a suspension!

He never was caught for doing steroids ever and has been tested in college and the UFC.
Steroid tests have caught many users over the years but only keyboard warriors are so quick to accuse. I find it likely if Brock is taking anything it would be HGH but there is little doubt Brock is taking the latest and greatest legal supplements today.

I tend to think Brock is such an athlete and is still pretty young.. I see him making a full recovery and training hard as hell (have you seen how complete and menacing his workouts are?) and coming in at peak shape.. Hoping for a sub by Les
I think the long layoff will make him rusty and Brock lost his last fight so the odds seem reasonable to me

from a betting perspective I like this.. cause I’m diggin’ Lesnars chances…I see it going similar to the Carwin fight moreso than the Mir fight… I think Lesnar will take a beating and keep ticking…Your last fight is a good indicator.. That ‘win’ by reem was extremely displeasing and lackluster. He gasses early and Lesnar finds a way to win (I call sub once Les gets top control).. He’s a menace on top..

Alves n hardy got blanketed and they are better strikers than georgy boy,koscheck was able take gsp down and gsp wanted no part of that so he mayweathered him jab jab run around alot,same with shields once u think about it the last well rounded fighter he faught was Penn n georgy boy greased up for that one.I’m curious to see his game plan now that he’s not fighting a one dimensional fighter

Overeem wins by knee to the face.
Two:
Brock wins by Overeem gassing a la Carwin.
