The only reason for Silva to be fighting at 205 is to make a run for a title. Dan Henderson isn’t in the UFC LHW title picture. And Silva doesn’t want to make a run at 205. Silva beating Hendo again, at any weight, does nothing.
Silva probably has 3-5 fights before he retires. I’d like to see him face some dudes he hasn’t beaten already. With the exception of a roided-up Sonnen (whom Silva stopped anyway), no one has shown anything they can use to win a rematch. Maybe Bisping and Stann can win their fights and become “legitimate” challengers.

Personally I think he can be top ten.
But he hasn’t beaten anyone to throw him up in the ranks. You can beat as many weak fighters as you want and still not be top ten. The only way to move up, is to beat guys above you, if you beat down on guys below you, you stay in the same spot(Unless someone else is competing with you for the number one spot in a different yet equal organization).

…but yooo, there are plenty of guys that made a name for themselves fighting outside of the UFC against guys that weren’t highly ranked (like Carlos Condit and Anderson Silva) and they came to the UFC and started smashing folks…we just need to see Hector in the UFC to determine where he stands I guess….but we can’t dispute that he’s a highly skilled dude…and he trains at ATT so it’s not like he’s not training with dudes that are in the UFC and top ranked

As for Leban, that’s kind of hard because being a good slugger can only be so good. It turns your slugging chances from 50/50 to 60/40, Still not odds I would suggest.

I’d argue that Henderson is in the UFC LHW title picture. He’s the reigning Strikeforce LHW champion, he’s a legend in the sport, and he’s coming off a dominant performance over the greatest HW of all time. If/when Hendo signs with the UFC again, I would not be surprised in the slightest to see him earn a title shot with a win over a Shogun/Machida/Rashad type.

Yeah Hendo is in the LHW title picture.....
..if he came to the UFC right now, he’d either fight Rashad for number 1 contender (but I think Rashad really deserves the next shot) OR he’d fight Machida or Shogun at the end of the year, which would set him up for a title shot next spring/summer….there are other options for Joe Silva though, but Hendo isn’t getting any younger so the sooner the better……

He wil either get an immediate title shot or at MOST fight one person before fighting for the title. Hendo also should’ve never taken the Anderson fight at 185 when he did it was a very stupid idea and his gas tank was what failed him, hes back at 205 and a few years older(185 aint happening anymore) I got Hendo all day at 205 over Andy.

Wasn’t that a catchweight? I thought Franklin should’ve got the decision but whatever. I just think hendo gets too many immediate title shots. He comes to the UFC and lost a lhw title fight to rampage, then in his next fight he gets a title shot against silva and gets smoked. Then he wins a couple fights an goes to strike force and gets an immediate title shot and gets beat by shields. Then he gets another title shot and finally wins and now he wants ANOTHER title shot in the UFC where he has never won a lhw fight ever.

if he is ever going to get a shot to avenge his loss to anderson it needs to happen now. make the fight at 205, the winner gets a title shot. if anderson wins it sets up a superfight, and if hendo wins he will have beaten fedor and anderson silva! no one will be able to deny his shot at the lhw title. i also think that hendo at 41 and 205 might be too much to handle for anderson silva.

Silva would clown Dan at 185. Without question. And I am not convinced that Dan should be granted an immediate title shot at either 185 or 205. I like Dan, but he needs to fight a 205 top tier fighter in the UFC before considering giving him a title shot.
Let him bang it out against Machida or Rua. That way the winner of that fight fights the winner of Shad vs. Jones/Rampage.

but we all know that was crap. that was a dancing class for andy. andy didn’t feel challenged.
the same thing was beginning to happen against okami. after the 2nd knock down andy was hesitant to follow him to the ground and finish him off. it looked to me like andy wanted to be in a fight, not rolling through okami. andy lazily finished him off but it looked to me like he only did that because of the shit he got over the maia fight. finishing all of the division off is no fun for him anymore. beating these guys is like taking candy from a baby. there’s nothing left for him. the only one left to beat (again) is chael, and this time chael gets ko’d in the first round.
gsp’s situation is different. nick diaz will expose some holes in his game and lose via decision. then condit comes along and puts gsp to sleep

…if GSP doesn’t fight Anderson after his rematch with Chael then Anderson should just retire…there is really nothing left for him to do, except for the fickle fight requests of us fans like Anderson vs Hector or Anderson vs Bones (which will never happen)….
Jason Macdonald predicts that Anderson and GSP will never fight, and I think I have to agree with him….but GSP is in a similar boat, if GSP beats Diaz and then Condit (if Condit beats Penn) then he reeeeeally needs to fight Anderson….plus the timing for a super fight would be perfect

…and Andy doesn’t have that many years left unfortunately…I mean, he could fight until he’s 40, but what is the point? ok, Henderson gets the round.
i remember watchin it thinkin “he’s not doin much”…but it was enough to win the round. Henderson took him down at the 2:52 mark and held him in half guard til there was 30 seconds left, then got sidemount, and then shortly after Anderson got his guard back.

you don’t win a round by being smothered. you guys can’t go around judging a fight by your own system them claiming a fighter won a certain round.

And yeah Two_words, you pretty much said it for me. And i have my own judging opinion, but I don’t go around swearing by it because I know it’s not perfect just like everyone else and more importantly, I can’t change what the judges do go by.

Hendo definitely won the 1st round...but the rest is history
…that’s the thing with Andy’s fights….his opponents get a chance to finish him….BUT THEY JUST CAN’T…..the second Andy gets an opportunity to finish a fight, he does just that….and in spectacular fashion….that’s what separates him from everyone else!

if this fight is at 205 it is a great fight. i doubt hendo cares as much about another belt as he does avenging his loss
to anderson. the winner gets a title shot. if anderson wins it sets up a superfight, and if hendo wins he will have beaten fedor and anderson silva! no one will be able to deny his shot at the lhw title. i also think that hendo at 41 and 205 might be too much to handle for anderson silva.

I don't know how Anderson Silva can even walk around right now with all the nuthuggers out there. Can't wait til Chael fucks him up in their next fight. Hopefully he goes over and slaps ed "open mouth" soares afterwards as well.

Love em both and still think Hendo can cause the upset. I think at 41 he may even have improved a bit…..I know that sounds ridiculous but he is looking dam solid. Hendo is getting older though and now is the time for a rematch before he hits the wall.
