Diego Sanchez vs Jake Ellenberger possible for UFC 141

A report has come to light that the UFC is in talks with the two scrappy welterweights to collide at UFC 141---Overeem vs Lesnar, in late December in Las Vegas Nevada.

Ellenberger was last seen making light work of once top contender Jake Shields by knocking him out in under a minute of the very first round at UFC Fight Night Battle at the Bayou.  Ellenberger has been on a tear as of late and is on a 5 fight win streak.

Diego Sanchez has been on the shelf for six months and has not competed since he and Martin Kampmann put on a “fight of the night” performance at UFC live on March 3, 2011.  “The Dream” went on to win a unanimous decision; though many people felt it should have gone the other way.

Sanchez was penciled in to do battle with UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes at UFC 135, but a broken finger forced him to pull out of the much anticipated fight and he was quickly replaced by welterweight bad boy Josh Koscheck. Koscheck earned the victory by knocking out Hughes with one second left in the first round.

Ellenberger was asked about the potential matchup on his twitter and face book accounts, to which he replied :

EllenbergerMMA Jake Ellenberger

@Slack_aka_HBK rumor bro, nothing yet!

Though nothing is confirmed yet, this should make for an interesting matchup if it comes to light and will without a doubt move the winner a step closer to earning a shot at UFC gold.

Stay tuned as more details surface.
