I didnt think they could implement a dumber sub system...

But THQ surprises yet again. They go from not explaining it well enough in 2010 to throwing it in your face. I really want to enjoy this game cause of the added move sets and emphasis on light strikes, but that sub system bugs the FUCK out of me. Sometimes all I wanna do is work the takedown and get the sub, but if I have to chase some stupid bar around every time I just may pass. In a better world EA would be using the fight night champion engine and creating a whole new grappling interface to go along with it. Fuck you, THQ.

THQ has done a good job, its not perfect but after player both EA and THQ games a bunch. THQ is by far the better game imo. EA has the better sub system but that is about it.

I'm not sold on the new sub system either but I think it is an improvement compared to the crappy system of the past and the true measurement will be how it feels in gameplay

I assume the better of sub offence you have the bigger your bar will be and the better sub D you have the smaller the bar will be so all in all I believe the sub moves as far as finishing fights will be much more realistic. I also assume that the sub D bar will get bigger as a fighter tires.

All in all it will only matter how how it feels in the game play and for me it will be how accurate it will sim the fighters abilities. Kind of looks cheesy but I think it will be much more accurate and in the end more realistic than the past sysytem making it a more fun game?

The first Undisputed was so bad to me that I never played any of the others. I like EA MMA.

But lately my time has been taken up by Killzone 3 and Little Big Planet 2.

If you have played the PS 2 MMA games it was obvious that the first undisputed was a huge step in the right direction.

I find EA MMA so gimmickie and button mashy. I felt it was more like Mortal Kombat without the fatalities. Undisputed felt more calculated while I played it.

I felt Undisputed was button-mashy in the sub system. As soon as I saw it was just stick-click for a sub I was done. I guess that first impression is the one that stuck with me

A poor effort. It’s supposed to be realistic, they put a lot of effort into getting the look and feel of a real ufc event. Why would they suddenly throw in a mini game which takes you out of the fight and is completely unrelated to MMA.

There’s a reason they didn’t put health/stamina bars in by default, when you watch ufc you don’t see any, and it should be no different in game.

I really hope they change this.

As for entrances… meh, its a nice touch but I’ll probs watch a couple once then skip, they should’ve put that valuable time & money into developing the submissons imo

Visually I agree but the end result I think your going to be wrong as I believe the system will be more accurate and realistic on the outcome of submission finishes.

On the outcome maybe...

But I think they could find a way to achieve this without sacrificing on presentation.

I see no point in putting the effort they do into matching the look and feel of a real UFC event if they’re just gonna stick that in.

Although I don’t like the old system and agree it needed changed, I like how they used the zoom to represent how close the sub was rather than have some mini game pop up.

The submission mini-game completely kills the realistic visuals that they've been focusing on in each game

But anything is better than the terrible analogue stick spinning BS that you used to have to do to win by submission. I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve played the demo but at least I know I won’t have to rub my hands raw trying and failing to submit someone this time. The mini-game system was the one thing I did like about EA MMA so it could end up being good.

It's official the B League is being dominated by the English. 171 points, top that one boys. Miles Austin is my hero and the Steelers DEF no longer suck.

It depends how it feels in the game, looking at a review it looks cheesy but how will it feel and make your experience actually playing it is another question. One of my major concerns with this system is if getting into submission attempts is as easy as last game we could spend a lot of time playing cat and mouse.

That it will probably be better than before since it wont be so heavily stamina-based. I can also admit I’m intrigued at how Demian Mia feels on the ground with the added ground positions. But I don’t have high expectations.

The first thing I did when I got 2010...

Was play Mia against drew mcfedries on hard and I was horrified at how much stamina you had to take off in order to even get close to a sub. After the 4th or 5th k.o. or tko trying to wear them down for a sub I turned off the TV and sat in the dark for a few minutes and thought of the other things I could do with 60 dollars.

I personally have enjoyed the last two games

Of coarse there is improvements they can make but all in all I see it going in the right direction.One thing I would love to see is them update the rosters with new fighters and attributes on how things are going in the UFC. this always makes the games better and if done properly the can also make more patch’s to tweak the game experience and take out any glitch’s.
