Call or be called

It appears that Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard (32-1-1) has agreed to fight former UFC light-heavyweight number one contender and Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Renato Sobral (36-9).

As the season 5 middleweight tournament became a little more clearer after this past Saturday's event, Lombard looks to stay fine tune by taking on 'Babalu'. Lombard is coming fresh off a second round submission win over TUF vet Jesse Taylor at Australian Fighting Championship 2 also staking claim to their promotions middleweight championship. Sobral was last seen on the uglier end of a knockout loss to current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson.

Bellator boss Bjorm Rebney had this to say about the pending Lombard-Sobral tilt

'I've been a big 'Babalu' for a lot of years. They weren't really on our radar, but they reached out and opened the door and asked for a few things. We agreed to all of them. But now we're sitting back and waiting. We haven't heard anything back from three or four days'

It appears Bellator middleweight champion is a very open fighter and had these words to say on the pending fight at light heavyweight:

'I got a call from Rebney...and he talked to me about the situation that 'Babalu' wanted to fight me. He wanted to fight me at 205 pounds. I said 'I'm here to fight'.  Let's just make the fight happen as soon as possible. It wouldn't be one of my easiest fights of my career but he's got a good name'

The proposed bout is being targeted for the Bellator 58 card on November 19th, 2011 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollyood, California.

Is 'Hektor' going to be another fighter with a brutal knockout of 'Babalu' or is Sobral going to sink in the choke on the Bellator middleweight champions impressive 23 fight win streak?
