We now have confirmation -- Antonio Silva's chin is, in fact, harder than all the bones within the human hand. Punching him in the face will almost surely result in a fractured fist.
Mike Kyle learned this when he dropped "Bigfoot" with a big shot back in Dec. 2010 that resulted in a broken hand that kept him out of action for nearly a year. The next man to join the list is Daniel Cormier, who knocked Silva straight out via crushing right uppercuts at Strikeforce: "Barnett vs. Kharitonov" this past Sat., Sept. 10.
But it came with a price. "DC" tweeted the bad news:
"Just got done seeing Dr. Hand is broken will be on the shelf 4 a while. Still looking forward to finishing tourney. Thx 4 support."
Cormier's victory over Silva earned him a berth in the heavyweight grand prix finals, a tournament he wasn't even a part of at its inception late last year. Josh Barnett joined him later in the same night by submitting Sergei Kharitonov in the first round of their battle.
And while Cormier still plans on winning the tournament title (and who wouldn't want this gorgeous hunk of gold), with the current climate in Strikeforce one never knows what Scott Coker (read: Dana White) and company's next move will be.
Anyone seen Chad Griggs lately?
