Strikeforce salaries and payouts for 'Barnett vs Kharitonov' event fighters

Photo

Strikeforce salaries and payouts for those who competed at the "Barnett vs. Kharitonov" Showtime event back on Sept. 10, 2011, were released today by the Ohio Athletic Commission.

As expected, heavyweight "Warmaster" Josh Barnett was the top earner of the night, bankrolling a crisp $150,000 for smashing the grand prix dreams of Russian striker Sergei Kharitonov, who earned an impressive $100,000 in defeat.

Also making it rain is Daniel Cormier, who has 100,000 reasons to be happy after beating the snot out of Brazilian "Bigfoot" Antonio Silva, who will not advance to the tournament final but has 100k and a year's supply of Turtle Wax for being a contestant.

But that's not all.

Here are the complete Strikeforce salaries and payouts for last Saturday's event, which racked up $942,000 in disclosed payroll expenses for the promotion's trip to "Queen City."

Josh Barnett: $150,000 (no win bonus)
Sergei Kharitonov: $100,000

They paid sasquatch 100K, that will by a lot of beef jerky. Seriously sucks to be the winner and still earn less.

I've got something to say; it better to burn out than to fade away!!!
Is it really funny Mayhem, please tell me its funny.

Bargains for Luke, Cormier and Mein considering they were the shows biggest winners

idk about that

100k for cormier is a shit ton of money, look at what the UFC payouts are for every card…when you find BOTH guys in the 2nd fight on the main card making 80+, you let me know, because i dont think its ever happened

That is once again why he is a bargain lol… if they put Fedor back in there then SF is back on the hook for a Million plus. Great deal for strikeforce for an alternate to come in and win.

I didnt give Cormier nearly enough credit for evolution in MMA. I thought he would stay away from striking but apparently Crazy Cook over at AKA has been teaching Cormier some tricks. Sparring with Mike Kyle probably helps as well.

I think the fight with Barnett will be awesome to watch.

Well it isnt his wrestling that impressed saturday it was his striking. Which Kyle is much more talented at then Cain at this point.

Kyle used to fight HW, and in fact, just did like two fights ago.

So him fighting HW isn’t that crazy. Also, in K-1, 205 lbs is heavy weight so actually, they’d be the same weight.

Lets put it this way...

IF Roidnett goes to the UFC, he’s not getting the same payday I would imagine.

Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts

Well, this is how the UFC works...

If you have a good agent and DEMAND a lot of money…
You are starting out ‘on the Chopping Block’.
If you are getting a smaller salary, you will not be fighting ‘large salary’ guys.

If Barnett demands more than $50,000…He will have less than 3 fights in the UFC.

I dont need to feel that he is good. He is good. He fought at 205 for much of his career all blown up against big monsters at LHW. Including fights with young Shogun and Yuki Kondo. Both guys that could never dream of being a welterweight. He fought Melvin Manhoef who is a K1 striker at a much heavier weight. Also guys like Mousasi.

He beat Zaromskis who is a credible welterweight. He also gave Nick Diaz all he could handle.

"......I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there has ever been. No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! He's no Alexander! I'm Alexander! by AintNoSunshine on Sep 12, 2011 2:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Well I guess we will just have to disagree on this one

He has fought alot of people, but that doesnt make him good. He is barely over .500 for his career and his biggest win is over Zaromski…

Zaromski was good for a few, then he dropped off the plant in terms of being a contender

enzo

by enzo-enormous on Sep 12, 2011 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Barely over .500 doesnt tell the story of his career. Thats the problem with basing things on records. They never tell the whole story. Jason Reindhart was what like 20-1? Then he came into the UFC and was demolished.

Cyborg is good. A hard opponent for ANYBODY. And has fought as heavy as 205 against champions of the weight class.

"......I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there has ever been. No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! He's no Alexander! I'm Alexander! He also gave Nick Diaz all he could handle.

That can go both ways. I see that as the fight that shows how not good Nick really is, or isn’t as the case may be. Getting taken into deep water is unimaginable for the likes of Fitch, Kos, GSP, hell even Diego, Ellenberger, Kampmann level guys. They all wipe the floor with Cyborg.

Why do I keep picking Forrest against far superior Brazilian fighters? Because I’m a dumb old man who pretends to be Irish that’s why.

by Ulf Murphy on Sep 12, 2011 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions

^^^ Hater in the house ^^^

And how do they all do that exactly? By taking him down and fighting Cyborg where he is the weakest.

But that’s not Nick’s style. He’s tries to prove points when he fights, not score them. He will fight you where you are at your best in order to challenge himself. He battered Cyborg to the point that Cyborg needed to shoot for a takedown. Kampmann is the only guy you named that would take it to Cyborg standing.

Cyborg is junk and he gave Nick all he could handle. There is a reason the man has lost 18 fights.

Thats my point too

Cyborg just isnt very good. Yea he has fought ppl at 205… that was just a bad idea… it doesnt make him better. He isnt good, plain and simple. He is average at best

Well, literally, he is just above average actually ;)

I’m a Nick Diaz fan, but I’m also a realist. The whole “beating people at their game” thing is bullshit. He likes to fight on the feet, and it’s a good thing because it’s really his only option.
