This could be a first, folks. The Fight Metric report for the closely contested bout between Ronaldo Souza and Luke Rockhold last night (Sept. 10) at Strikeforce in Cincinnati agrees with the judges decision to award the bout -- and the middleweight championship -- to Rockhold.
The American Kickboxing Academy product had his coming out party tonight, outlanding "Jacare" by a margin of 104-63 through five grueling rounds of action. All the more impressive is the fact that he did this after over a year of inactivity in which he dealt with more than his share of injuries. Apparently, he never struggled with any self doubt, as he looked confident and composed against one of the top middleweights in the world.
Grappling, where Souza was easily the most successful, and performance ratings are after the jump. Be sure to check out Fight Metric for the full report.
