After a 15-month layoff, Suga returned to the ring last night lookin pretty damn good, pounding out the former Champ to a 2nd round TKO victory. Ortiz took this fight on short notice (which I'm sure you'll hear him remind people forever) to save Dana from overpaying Machida. Tito came out aggressive in his striking, got into a bit of a brawl against the cage, got slammed, and eventually pounded out. But he didn't look all that bad, almost catching Shad in a guillotine choke, which looked tight, but he only had one leg locked in, and Suga was able to escape and get a favourable position.
Is this the beginning of the end for Tito? Dana will throw him another fight for sure, but Tito is under the impression he's back for good, while the rest of the world knows he's on his last leg again. I don't think Dana and Tito will be BFF's for very long.
After landing in the top 5 in two previous events and holding down the #1 overall spot for a few events, Agar has returned!
Agar came into last nights event in 5th place, 14 points from the leader, but he was looking to regain his place at the top of the mountain, and that's exactly what he did. You're now officially gettin' paid!
How'd He Do It?
Agar went 10/11 scoring 87pts last night, calling Natal, Mendes, Menjivar perfect for their unanimous decisions, as well as gettin ful points on Belfort's first round KO over Akiyama. The only fight Agar got wrong was Costa Phillipou's split win over Rivera. Good pickin Agar!
Newfie's come up for some air! How does almost gettin paid taste like? Newfoundland scored 81 points last night pickin 10 for 11, in an impressive picking performance, gettin 11's on the Mendes and Brown decisions, and even more impressive was his 1st round KO call for Belfort and the 2nd round TKO victory for Gustafsson. Some great pickin Newfie.
Deuce locked down the #3 spot this week with 69 points pickin 9/11 gettin Natal, Mendes and Rashad right. Great call on Rashad finishing Tito. I also had Shad by 2nd round TKO, but switched it on Saturday to a decision. oh well.
UNDERDOG PICK OF THE NIGHT:
Rafael Natal - He wasn't a huge underdog, but only 30% of Maniacs jumped on him. Natal showed an improved stand up game last night by welcoming The Gentleman to the UFC.
HOTBOUT OF THE NIGHT:
Dennis Hallman vs. Brian Ebersole - This fight could've either made you or break you since the picks were pretty much split down the middle. Hallman came out in a pair of speedo's to outdue Ebersole's Hairrow. Not sure how many noticed, but there was a "wardrobe malfunction" when Ebersole's elbow accidently freed up one of the Hallman boys while Dennis was on top. Back to the fight, Hallman looked very impressive early taking Brian's back, almost sinking in a choke. Ebersole reverse and controlled the top position with impressive ground n' pound to a knockout victory. FYI- Dana has banned speedos.
BASEMENT DWELLER OF THE NIGHT:
arm.bar.bandit - "I'm not impressed by your performance." Abb finished 5/11 grabbin 31 points. 11 of those came from Mendes unanimous decision win over Yahya, which I think everyone picked...even Yahya.
UFC 133 Results:
Agar has regained his spot in first, leapfrogging 5 Maniacs, and distancing himself from second with a 13 point lead. Dlocc and Ulf are tied for 2nd with an even 400 points and lookin to put pressure on the leader.
