Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) has announced the signing of Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. The promotion has wasted no time setting up a match for their new acquisition, immediately placing him in a title bout with current MFC light heavyweight champion Ryan Jimmo.
The fight will take place at MFC 31: The Rundown on Oct. 7 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The card will be broadcast live on HDNet and will also feature a lightweight top contender bout between Richie Whitson and Kajan Johnson, as well as a clash between top prospects Mukai Maromo and Sabah Fadai.
"I am extremely excited to see what happens when Jimmo and Sokoudjou collide. I truly believe it will be the most explosive title fight ever in MFC history," said Mark Pavelich, Owner/President of the Maximum Fighting Championship. "Ryan is a terrific champion and represents the MFC like no other fighter ever has before. Now we’re going to see how he handles the athleticism and pressure that Sokoudjou will put on him."
Jimmo will be coming off a very impressive 15 fight win streak. He has not lost since Feb 3., 2007.
Sokoudjou will be riding a three fight win streak of his own, though he has bounced around back and forth between organizations quite a bit over the past few years.
