Bernard Hopkins admits he was wrong about MMA but won't entertain idea of competing in the UFC (Video)
Which is too bad because he's one hell of a boxer.

Good for him.
Now he’s a little bit less of a cock bag.
Why, Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked over your grave.
Ok Benard apology accepted...
u have eased my pain… continue to kiss ass and I might even like u.

A true legend.
People in MMA talk about bums like couture being a legend simply coz they’re old as hell. Compared to other sports sometimes i think we dont have any legends in MMA. Look at Bernard, he’s been boxing since before MMA existed only in its earliest shooting form…and he’s been doing it at a high level for two decades. And mind you it’s in an established and advanced form of the sport. Unlike MMA which in reality is still in its teenage years.

seriously though freakin big cushy gloves...
of course an old guy can do good in boxing… just because he’s one of the 1st boxers to train yr around n not get outta shape and fight into his 40’s… all the other boxers did was get lazy and fat after fights… only a few kept in shape, ate right, etc… yeah a true legend only in boxing…. it’s harder to be a couture in MMA… 40 plus years old in a grueling sport like MMA?…. holy bat Shit!

Ok - big cushy gloves. That's one thing that bugs me about mma when ppl say the gloves are smaller.
The only reason gloves are worn is to protect the hands, not to soften blows or for the safety of the other guy. And as far as comparing one guy out of all boxers. Well that’s the point of having legends right? The outliers and greats that stood out amongst all the other greats. Well am lookin hard at the paycheck’s career and it’s not stackin up too good against Bernard’s in their respective sports. And MMA more grueling – not necessarily, mma is simply more complex. And at the level we’re at where no one has really super refined skills in all disciplines, you have easier avenues to wins as opposed to something like boxing where there is only one skill. Trying to find gaps and new techniques/concepts is probably much harder there. More wear and tear on the body sure mma probably does but boxing much worse with the wear and tear on the brain. I would wager you want your brain to be intact over your body.

when u talk about records how easy is it to pad a boxing record
even bernard himself basically says there is no comparison between the two sports it’s apples n oranges… guys go 30-3 etc all the time in boxing… also it’s not just the record itself it’s the level of competition,,, to compare what Couture accomplished during his time as the sport was growing is much different than comparing him to the competition nowadays, the competition is definitely getting better. BUT, does that take away what Royce, Hughes or even what someone like Coleman accomplished?… No they were all great fighters for their time. Even with the loses on Coutures record and even with the quick title shots he got, I see it as earned as he always seemed to make the most of it and he continuely bounced back… he wasnt overrated, actually for a long time he was underrated. Is couture a legened… yeah for his time… yeah. so will tito, liddell, hughes, penn etc…
n’ yeah brain damage is never good, that makes the sport more dangerous, but not necessarily tougher, the level of conditioning is extreme in MMA, the grueling cuts n all out usage of all Martial Arts disciplines is about as close to fighting for your life in a sport as it gets… I would wager MMA is tougher than boxing.

As far as no comparison, well that's why we have to evaluate who did better in their respective sport.
They both fought at approx the same rate. 60 fights 20 yrs for b hop, 20 fights 10 yrs randy. Randy was much older, but B hop has been in it longer. B hop has been universally accepted as #1 in his division before as well as P4P quality fighter while Randy hasnt had such accolades. And mind you we dont even need to use Randy to make the comparison, this isnt about bashing the paycheck though it may seem like it. You’d be hard pressed to find many other MMA fighters considered legends who’ve accomplished as much as him within MMA. Which is why i am kinda thinking that there arent really true “Legends” JUST YET in MMA.

i would have to partially agree with u on true legends but
in other words by that precise scenerio Royce Gracie is not a true legend, because he beat bigger guys that didn’t know anything and only fought for a short period of time. I think in the infancy of this sport a Legend is a fighter that became a Champion through legendary fights that will be remembered and perhaps accomplishing something no other MMA fighter has accomplished in that respected time frame,,, we’re not saying they were the GOAT, but they will be remembered as a legendary Champion in there respective era of say 10yrs. I think that’s reasonable. As the sport grows there will be more ’’True Legends" and the criteria will be more difficult to be labeled a fighter as such… I think A. Silva n GSP are on the way to becoming “True Legends” as u put it… I get what ur saying…

Although it is apples to oranges there really is no equivalent to Bernand in MMA
NNR is right; by having only 1 discipline you must be that much better at what you do. Also take a look at one of Bernard’s fights. He’s like the Machida of boxing; in and out taking as few hits as possible. That’s the reason he is able to fight the level he is; not because he stays in shape year-round. He has many times credited his diet and his defensive fighting style for his longevity. He also wins because of his brain. He’s smarter than 99% of the people he steps in the ring with. Look at what he did before the 7th round of his fight with Pascal: push-ups in the middle of the ring. At that point Pascal was beaten mentally.
As for padding records you are right about boxing. I think that’s due to the prevalence of that sport but also it’s corruption (including crooked judges).
"It’s Mark Pavelich calling from the Maximum Fighting Championship,
I’ve just received notice that Drew Fickett or you, I don’t care which one of you fuckers did it, has signed a contract to fight in Strikeforce this fucking weekend. I’m going to get on a fucking plane soon and go where you’re at and choke you the fuck out. I’m telling you right now, I’ve had enough of your fucking shit. First of all, I’ve sent you the fucking pictures and secondly, I placed Drew Fickett in a fight fucking months ago and five weeks prior to my main event of my fucking fight card. You’re going to give me a fucking call tomorrow or I swear I’ll get on a fucking plane and go right where you’re at right now. You’re pissing me off, I’ve been nothing but professional to you motherfuckers and you’re doing this kind of bullshit, alright? Call me back, I’m fucking pissed."
