Forrest68

Not that it had anything to do with his loss to Mauricio Rua last night (Aug. 27, 2011) at UFC 134, but Forrest Griffin had to be rushed home to Las Vegas shortly after the conclusion of the event so he could be with his wife, who was giving birth to their child.

If anything the fact he was away from her should've been huge motivation to make a war of it or finish it quickly

But honestly that was one of the worst performances I have ever seen . He needs some testosterone in his life . Not taking anything away from shogun , great job by him , but if it were anyone else laying an egg like that they would be threatened with a cut from the ufc or something .
Any middleweight couldve beat Forrest last night .

Shogun is a brawler

But I know what ya mean

Yeah...Shogun isn't the technical striker the some make him out to be

…and he’s not a physical specimen, but for some reason when he hits dudes, they fold like cheap lawn chairs on display at the local wal mart….and dem shits fold really well, even though they’re inexpensive and all

Fedor "The Can Crusher" Emeilianko IS NOT THE BEST HW EVER , in fact he sucks! he has the most padded record in the history of any combat sport, scratch that in the history of any sport. He has not changed as a fighter , he is still just as good as he was then, only difference is he isn’t fighting freaks and nobodies, I , along with many others have been duped into believing he is great, when clearly he is NOT! -I hate you the Dragon...one day

If you still doubt Anderson's greatness, it is because you're a racist Nazi!

Shogun isn't a physical specimen in the same league as Jones but it's not like hes Cabbage either.

Shogun’s striking has become much more technical over his UFC career. He shows patience and a game-plan which is in strong contract to his Pride days. His punches are often straighter and his movement is good.

If he can just keep working on his cardio and wrestling I like his chances against anyone not named Jones.

Forrest is such a dissapointment.

I mean he won TUF and the the Light Heavyweight title.

Get out of the UFC! No one wants to see you beat cans like Franklin and Ortiz!

franklin who’s only lost to ppl with names like anderson silva, machida…yeah, franklin’s a can.

Hmm, that’s pretty easy to say for someone who’s biggest accomplishment every day is to log on to the forums.

He’s over-rated and we’re tired of paying to see him in co-main events. This guy should be strictly Fight Nights

Regardless

Baby or no baby. I think it’s pretty obvious forrest’s heart isn’t in it. He hardly even tries anymore. I look at him like I do rampage. Willing to fight but only because there’s big $ involved.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

That's the way I see it

He just doesn’t care anymore. Which is cool if that’s how he feels. But if he’s gonna just stick around for the cash then he deserves to be embarrassed like he was last night

Yall!

He lost to SHOGUN RUA!!!! There’s no shame in losing to one of the top 3 light heavyweights in the world!

by mguillardfan701 on Aug 28, 2011 1:27 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

It's not that he lost

It’s not even how he lost. Its just painfully obvious that he doesn’t care anymore. He needs to move over and make room for someone who does

by Craigo8609 on Aug 28, 2011 1:30 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

i think he does

A lot of people said he trained harder than ever for this fight….I think it may have something to do with his wife being pregnant and he wasn’t all that focused.

by mguillardfan701 on Aug 28, 2011 1:36 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

My money is still on the fact that he began changing after the Silva fight...

Aside from the fact it was painfully and obviously embarrassing/humiliating it was also a message to him that just straight hard work can’t take you past certain thresholds. I’m not taking shots at him but to me his entire demeanor and interest in MMA changed after that fight IMHO.

does he have any other kids?maybe we can blame some of his other loses on them

Congrats to Forrest and his wife...

Hope he made it home in time for the birth. Some of you are jerks on here. Forrest lost fair and square…at least he didn’t pull out of the fight.

While I agree with your sentiments on him getting him on time and best of luck to them

In the cage we witnessed what looked like a half hearted display. Nobody really appreciates that when it happens when he doesn’t have the upper hand. Might be being unfair but he reminds me of Cane who get’s tons of grief too.

by grapplefan on Aug 28, 2011 3:35 PM EDT up reply actions

his head was elsewhere

Baby due in a few hours will do that to you.
I cut him some slack….I know he’s not Silva but every fighter can have a bad night.

I think you're pretty tough....don't I?

Hmm, mixed feelings with me.

I get what you’re saying but he was dominated.

by grapplefan on Aug 28, 2011 4:13 PM EDT up reply actions

If nothing else, Forrest usually outworks guys

Including Shogun, the first time around.
I don’t mean to say the guy is the greatest lhw ever….just that he didn’t look like himself last night and I think he’d be the first to admit that he looked terrible.

first thing i was thinking after that fight was: "What the fuck was on his mind?!"

And that became painfully obvious at the post fight presser when DW said he was zooming him off in his private jet to get back to Vegas – That would be a pretty hasty exit for someone who’s mind was not COMPLETELY overtaken by the thought of his wife having a baby alone…

exactly right man

just because hes in the big time doesnt mean hes not allowed to be human and have something HUGE in his life on his mind/ it all made sense to me but i was disappointed because i really wanted to see him put on a show! Tweeted the bastard: “Bad luck on the outcome but congrats on life!”

That’s all i could do to make sense of it lol

hmmmm, wife is having a baby soon

I"ll just fall to the ground and take a couple of hammer fists, collect my paycheck and get the heck out of dodge….

I guess this event was just bad timing for Forrest but he’s now been in multiple extremely disappointing fights and he’ll be asked to retire before the UFC would cut the guy.
