Better than Facebook, not quite Spike TV.
Strikeforce officials today revealed that cable network HDNet will broadcast the weigh-ins and live preliminary card fights for the remained of the heavyweight grand prix, including the upcoming Sept. 10 event in Cincinnati, as well as the fight card that will feature the conclusion of the tournament.
But that's not all.
In addition, HDNet's popular program "Inside MMA" will broadcast live from the location of the weigh-ins at both events and will feature hosts Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten delivering exclusive coverage with pre-fight interviews and analysis.
Here's a snip from Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker:
"As we continue to showcase some of the sport's up-and-coming talent on our prelims, we're excited to be able to air them live on HDNet. We're excited to give Strikeforce fans even more access to great fights."
The HDNet broadcasted preliminary card schedule kicks off on Sept. 10 with a bevy of compelling contests.
Mike Kyle returns to action in a 205-pound bout against prospect Marcos Rogerio de Lima. Former welterweight title challenger Evangelista Santos makes his way back to the hexagon against rising contender Jordan Mein.
The women are also in action this fall, as Brazilian bantamweight Amanda Nunes takes on Japanese jujutsu black belt Alexis Davis. There is still one fight left to be made and it's expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
The Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix continues on Sept. 10 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The main card on Showtime will feature match-ups pitting Antonio Silva vs. Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett vs. Sergei Kharitonov.
