Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to pull the trigger on its latest pay-per-view (PPV) fight card TONIGHT (Sat., Oct. 8, 2011) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

UFC 136: "Edgar vs. Maynard 3" will be headlined by the long-awaited trilogy fight in the rivalry between lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and his own personal "Bully," Gray Maynard. A second championship match up is set for "Space City," as featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo will put his 145-pound strap on the line against Kenny Florian, who is still in search of that elusive first title win.

And a middleweight number one contender bout is also on the card with Republican Chael Sonnen going to war against super-soldier Brian Stann for the right to challenge for the 185-pound title.

Round five: This round according to my scorecard will decide the fight. Leg kick from Florian. Florian charges in for another take down and lands some knees against the cage as Aldo stuffs it. Now their tied up against the cage and Florian trying to work the position but Aldo with good defense. Aldo slips away. Aldo lands a big jab as Florian slips while throwing a knee. Now Aldo lands kicks to the legs while holding position with Kenny on his back. Florian goes for a heel hook and Aldo lands a big right. Aldo lands a big elbow. Aldo mounts now!! Nice right from Aldo. Florian goes to scoot out the back door and Aldo grabs a leg before he can get away. Aldo now on top in half guard. Aldo almost gets to the mount again, but Florian now back to his feet and their clinched up against the cage. Knees from Aldo. Knee from Florian and ref breaks themup. Florian ties it up instantly and Aldo just pushes him into the cage. Lots of grappling against the cage and Aldo seems content to ride out the round, Florian with a right and flying knee that doesnt hit. Left hook from Aldo and Aldo lands a big left hook right hook combo. Knee from Aldo and that is the bell. Round 5 was all Aldo and now well see how the judges scored the fight. In my opinion Aldo won 3 and 5 clearly, but now the other rounds could literally have gone either way so the judges will decide this one. 10-9 Aldo.

Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann

Round one: Sonnen ducks under for a double right off the bat. Now their against the cage and Sonnen landing some good knees. Stann with a couple punches and knees of his own. Hard body shots from Stann. More body shots from Stann. Knee from Sonnen again. More body right hooks from Stann. Sonnen finally gets a trip take down and he lands right into side control. Elbows from Sonnen. Knee's to the body from Sonnen. Elbows off the back from Stann. Sonnen went for full mount and Stann gets butterfly guard. Now a scramble and Sonnen takes the back, and now he has both hooks and full back control. Sonnen now reverses and gets the ful mount!!! Stann rolls over and Sonnen now gets the back again!! Sonnen rolls over again and is now in the full guard of Stann. Sonnen postures up and lands some punches. Elbow from Sonnen. Good ground and pound from Sonnen. Sonnen lands some HARD punches and an elbow. That is the bell and that round was all Sonnen. 10-9 Sonnen.

Round two: Leg kick from Stann and Sonnen grabs it and gets the double leg take down. More punches to the body and head from Sonnen while in half guard. Sonnen now passes into side control with ease. Sonnen now jumps into full mount with ease now!! Sonnen with punches and shoulder slams softening up Stann. Stann hip escapes back into half guard. Stann now into full guard. Sonnen throwing body shots relentlessly. Their stood up and Stann lands a BIG right. Now Sonnen shoots and Stann stuffs the take down. Sonnen picks up Stann and slams him to the mat and once again is back on top in side control. Sonnen now locks in an arm triangle and hops over the side of Stann and it is locked in DEEEP. Stann trying to avoid tapping but this thing is TIGHT. Thats it Stann taps out!! Sonnen with a great win tonight and he looked awesome.

Stephens out and to his feet and Pettis gets a leg sweep of his back!! Now their against the cage in the tie up. Knee from Stephens. Pettis with a trip take down. Stephens goes for a trip but he cannot get it and Pettis with another take down against the cage. Stephens back to his feet now and Pettis still dominant in the tie up. Round one: Miocic takes the center of the cage early and lands an inside leg kick and then another. Miocic goes back to work with leg kicks, landing a pair and then backing away from a 1-2 from Beltran. Miocic using his jab well too and he drops down for a single-leg takedown and drags Beltran down. Beltran pops back to his feet but he's pinned against the fence. They reset and Beltran cannot find his range with his punches. Nice right hand connects for Miocic and a big inside leg kick that launches Beltran's leg into the air. Beltran lands a right hand but eats another leg kick and Miocic lands a right of his own. Beltran lands a left jab that catches Miocic on the way in at the end of the round. 10-9 Miocic

Round two: Beltran picks up the pace early taking the center of the and throwing aggressive strikes. Miocic easily drops down and takes him down along the fence. Miocic passes to side control and attempts an Americana but Beltran escapes. Beltran drops his hands and starts throwing bombs trying to turn this into a brawl and Miocic slips. Beltran swarms him with ground and pound and he hits Miocic with several blows. Miocic works his way to his feet but takes more punches. Miocic drops down and takes Beltran with ease again and passes to side control but Beltran pops to his feet. Miocic is tired here and both men trade strikes. Miocic lands a huge right hand and Beltran wraps him up looking for a takedown. Huge right hand connects for Miocic and he takes the inside position along the fence. Miocic throws bombs as both men flurry and Miocic lands big right hands while Beltran responds with elbows. Much closer round there but I'm sticking with Miocic 10-9

Round three: Miocic lands a leg kick, soem straight punches and another leg kick to open the round. He's wisely keeping his distance early. Miocic drops for a single but gets stuffed and instead clinches along the fence. Miocic throws a knee to the body and drops down for a takedown along the fence, passing to mount. Beltran turtles and Miocic slides off. Miocic has Beltran in a back body lock, throwing some short knees. Beltran turns into him and Miocic backs off. They trade right hands and Miocic lands a leg kick. Beltran throws a pair of hooks to the body and Miocic connects with a left jab and a right leg kick. Nice knee to the face by Miocic and he shoots for a takedown but gets stuffed. Beltran can't get to his feet quick enough and takes top position on the ground, advancing to side control. Miocic drops a short elbow and throws some nice knees to eh body. Miocic passes to full mount and takes Beltrans back, throwing strikes until the final bell. 10-9 Miocic and he should win the decision here.

Final result: Stipe Miocic defeats Joey Beltran via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)

Darren Elkins vs. Zhang Tiequan

Round one: Zhang lands a nice uppercut and Elkins dives in for a takedown. Zhang latches on a guillotine choke and he's got Elkins in trouble here. Zhang has it tight and tries to advance to mount by Elkins escapes and takes top position, dropping some nice ground and pound from above. Elkins is overpowering Zhang here, passing to half guard and dropping punches. Elkins latches on a neck crank but gives up on it and instead passes to full mount. Zhang gives up his back and Elkins puts the hooks in, dropping a punch and controlling Zhang's back. Elkins is looking for a rear naked choke and instead drops some big punches from behind. Zhang tries to roll into him and Elkins has him in the rear naked choke but he can't secure it. Elkins puts in the body triangle and Zhang rolls towards Elkins' ankle but can't escape the position as the round ends. 10-9 Elkins

Round two: Elkins drops for a takedown and Zhang again latches on that guillotine choke. Elkins tolls through it and takes side control. Zhang turtles and Elkins put the hooks in, flattening him out. Elkins drops some right hands from behind and all Zhang can do is cover up. Zhang adjusts back to half guard but Elkins passes to side control. Zhang pops to his feet at the midway points of the fight. Elkins shoots for another takedown and Zhang again tries for the guillotine but he has even less on it this time. Elkins drops some nice elbows from half guard. Zhang sweeps Elkins but can't retain his advantage as Elkins immediately dives back into him. Zhang again tries to escape but Elkins stays on top and wrestles him back down along the fence as the round expires. 10-9 Elkins

Round three: Elkins throws a right hand and eats some crisp boxing from Zhang. He shoots in for a takedown and Zhang latches on the guillotine for the fourth time, this time it's pretty tight and he's got his forearm under Elkins' neck but Elkins hangs in and survives, rolling on top. Elkins takes top position in half guard, dropping short strikes and he passes to mount easily. Zhang hip escapes to half guard but Elkins pases to side control with ease. Zhang turtles and eats some punishment. Elkins takes his back with a body triangle and tries to soften up Zhang with ground and pound. Elkins almost has the rear naked choke but can't secure it. Zhang covers up and absorbs more punches and hammerfists from behind as the round ends. 10-9 Elkins

Eric Schafer vs. Aaron Simpson

Round one: Simpson presses forward and rocks Schafer with some heavy punches along the fence. Schafter drops to his back and Simpson backs off. Bad start for Schafer. Schafer moving in pretty slowly here and his eye is already bloodied up. Simpson has a big speed advantage and he's able to throw strikes without fear of retribution. Schafer attempts a clinch but gets denied. Schafter covers up as Simpson throws big strikes into his protecting arms. Nice left hook to the body by Simpson and he throws a flurry of strikes as he gets inside. Schafter is lumbering along here and he eats a big counter right hand. Simpson drops with some huge right hands to the body. Simpson unloads with a combination on Schafer and Schafter finally lands a lead left hook. That was a dominant round for Aaron Simpson. 10-8 Simpson

Round two: Simpson really throwing hard here. He unloads some big strikes on Schafer. Schafer lands a nice left left hook but Simpson batters him with big combinations that force him to back away and cover up. Big right hand lands for Simpson that stumbles Schafer and he pours it on with big shots to the body. Schafer is hurt but he endures. Solid combinations to the body and head from Simpson after they reset. The left side of Schafers face is a complete mess. Simpson again stumbles Schafer but Schafer clinches to clear the cobwebs. Huge right hand lands for Simpson that drops Schafer at the end of the round but he can't score the finish. 10-8 Simpson again. He is destroying Eric Schafer.

Round three: Schafer stalks Simpson but he's no match for Simpson's speed. Simpson bounces around on the outside and clips Schafer with a right hand. Simpson is playing it a little more cautious this round. Schafer whiffs with a looping left hook and gets smacked by a sharp left from Simpson. Overhand right from Simpson gets blocked and Schafer just isn't doing anything here to help him get the finish he desperately needs. Big 1-2 combination blasts Schafer and sends him reeling backwards but he recovers. Simpson lands a right hand at the end of the round. 10-9 Simpson, I'm interested to see if the judges gave him 10-8's in the first two.

Final result: Aaron Simpson defeats Eric Schafer via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

Steve Cantwell vs. Mike Massenzio

Round one: Massenzio takes the center of the cage and presses forward with a short combination. Nice leg kick from Massenzio snaps on Cantwell's thigh.They trade body kicks and Cantwell opens up with his kicks, throwing a leg kick and a pair of push kicks. Massenzio aggressively throws some punches with power, forcing Cantwell to retreat. Big right hand lands for Cantwell, but Massenzio keeps pressing forward. Cantwell lands a big right hand that stuns Massenzio and he turns up the heat, pressing forward but Massenzio drops down for a takedown to force him to back off. Cantwell has found his range. Cantwell throws a flying knee and Massenzio lands a low blow accidentally. They reset and Cantwell presses forward, he's landing big strikes on Massenzio now and Massenzio drops down for a takedown but Cantwell stuffs it easily and nearly takes his back. 10-9 Cantwell

Round two: Big kick connects for Cantwell and Massenzio shoots in for a takedown. He gets in deep on Cantwell but Cantwell throws big right hands to the body and some downward elbows which forces Massenzio to back off. Cantwell throws a nice left hook and Massenzio counters with a big right hand and shoots for a takedown but it's telegraphed and stuffed easily. Massenzio pushes forward and connects with a pair of solid left hands, he's finding a home for that left and backs Cantwell into the fence. Massenzio has had some success with his power lead left hook, it's opening up the right jab. Cantwell is slowing down here a bit. Massenzio turns up the aggression and then drops for a takedown but Cantwell has a wide base along the fence. Cantwell is bleeding now. Massenzio really pushing forward with big left hands and Cantwell can't block them or get out of the way. Massenzio finishes the second round strong with three big punches. 10-9 Massenzio

Round three: Massenzio opens with a big uppercut and pushes Cantwell into the fence. Cantwell is definitely fading a bit here while it appears Massenzio is getting stronger. Cantwell tries to throw some technical strikes but Massenzio gets in his face landing nice hooks and again pressing him into the fence and forcing Cantwell to defend. Massenzio blasts Cantwell with his left hand and then an uppercut and shoots in for a takedown. Cantwell tries to latch onto a Kimura but Massenzio scores a takedown into full guard. Cantwell tries to roll off the cage for an armbar but Massenzio stays with him and remains on top. Massenzio pushes forward an dblasts Cantwell with uppercuts, a knee and some big hooks and Cantwell is hurt. Mid-combination, Massenzio drops for a takedown but can't get it. Cantwell lands a nice knee and they reset. Cantwell throws some kicks but they're ineffective and Massenzio again blasts him with his left hooks and uppercuts. Cantwell is wilting under the pressure from Massenzio here. Cantwell throws a knee and tries for a takedown but Massenzio takes top position dropping ground and pound and surviving a last second leg lock from Cantwell. 10-9 Massenzio and he should win a unanimous decision here 29-28.

Final result: Mike Massenzio defeats Steve Cantwell via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)
