Strikeforce Challengers 18: "Gurgel vs. Duarte" went down last Friday night (August 12, 2011) from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Now that the dust has settled, it's time for these guys (and gals) to get paid.
Lightweight scrapper Jorge Gurgel did what he does best: stand and trade for three rounds against the venerable Joe Duarte in the headlining bout. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to get the job done thanks to some impressive takedown defense from the San Diego native, who pockets $6,000 for the unanimous decision win.
Gurgel banks $5,000 in defeat.
"Bam Bam" also got 10k for beating up Eric Wisely ($3,000).
But that's not all.
