UFC 132 fighter payouts for those who competed at the "Cruz vs. Faber 2" event this past Saturday night (July 2, 2011) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas were released earlier today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

"Darth" limps home with $20,000 in defeat.

Coming in a distant second was Wanderlei Silva, who was knocked out in the co-main event but still has 200,000 reasons to feel good about himself. His heavy-handed opponent, Chris Leben, will enjoy a $92,000 payday for 27 seconds of work.

"The Crippler" raked in more than both main event competitors Dominick Cruz ($40,000) and Urijah Faber ($32,000) combined.

it's pretty simple.

and obvious. Tito’s fought 4 former UFC champs and he’ll keep getting those kind of fights while being paid that much. Just like Brock Lesnar and Chuck, Randy had to fight top names and be in big fights even though they don’t deserve it.

I am who i is.

by RoBerto. on Jul 5, 2011 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Tito deserves it...

Some of these guys are criminally underpaid. Tito’s a guy who knows he’s a name and milks it. I’m more surprised by Leban’s numbers than Tito’s.

by Mattvt00 on Jul 5, 2011 10:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Tito does deserve it.

For one he’s fought nothing but UFC champions over the past couple of years. On top of that, i have heard so many people say that wether they were at home, in a bar, in front of their pc, they all got up out of their seats high fiving everyone around them going crazy over Tito’s win. There’s no doubt the UFC has moved away from heavily promoting one or two fighters as they did in the earlier days – probably due to the salary cost! – but it will pay off in this case because i believe the UFC event with Tito’s next fight will top the UFC’s PPV record. I’m certain of it.

he probably didnt get a PPV cut or a "Win Bonus"

imagine if they did 750K PPV buys at $55 each. if he got just 1% of that then he’d get at least $400K. i have no idea what the big boys make as far as PPV % but i think Lesnar and Couture made something like 5%. Tito would probably be similar.

they are all under their old WEC contracts, the UFC contracts will be more when it s time to renegotiate

In the meantime they are making a shit load more in sponsorships because of the increased visibility. It will all work itself out.

Definitely true.

I’d be curious to know where he falls in terms of sponsorship (of all fighters in MMA), because I think he has to be pretty high up. And I don’t have a problem with him making more money than Cruz at the moment, because I think he’s earned it with his career accomplishments. But he certainly shouldn’t be out-earning him by as much as he is.

it will take a dead era for MMA HW’s/LHW’s for that to happen, ala boxing today.

But that would skew the whole dynamic

GSP beats Hughes, instantly makes more than Hughes (the best WW to ever fight and by far the highest paid), Serra beats GSP and gets paid more than GSP?

I am actually suprised these guys do not try to negotiate an automatic pay increase if they win a belt, but I have never seen a UFC contract to know if they are air-tight/“my way or the highway” contracts or if there is actual negotiation.

Watching the old guard fall off the map makes me realize that it is cheaper in the long run for the UFC to overpay for other orgs like SF, than it is to have legitimate competition for the fighters at the highest level. Imagine in 10 years if Sera/Franklin/Shad/Forrest/Page are all making $500k/per as former champs.

Yeah but

I’d like to see the buy numbers because of those two being on the card compared to recent buys. As much as hardcore fans like Cruz and Faber they aren’t gonna generate a lot of buys.

Tito will add big numbers (yes, still) and I’d go as far as to say more fans will buy his next fight to see if he really is healthy and a contender again.
