A welterweight battle of prospects is headed for "The Big Easy."
That's because Matt Riddle has agreed to welcome Octagon newcomer Lance Benoist to the world's largest fight promotion at UFC Fight Night 25 on Sept. 17, 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The pending bout was announced on UFC.com for the upcoming Bud Light sponsored and heavily promoted "Battle on the Bayou" fight card.
Riddle, a seven fight veteran who's never fought outside the confines of the eight-sided playground, was last in action back at UFC 124 in Dec. of last year, a tough decision defeat.
Injuries have plagued him in the meantime but he's finally back to get himself on the right track.
Standing in his way is Lance Benoist, a name you probably don't know. That's okay, though, because he's a solid prospect coming out of the Midwest, who holds just as many wins (5) as the better known Riddle.
He even finished each of his opponents inside the first round.
It's an entirely different world inside the Octagon, however, and he's getting a big, big chance to prove himself on the big stage against a former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) contestant.
UFC Fight Night 25 will feature Jake Shields making his return to the cage in a tough match-up against an always game Jake Ellenberger.
