Former Strikeforce Women's Champion Gina Carano stars as a "black ops super-soldier seeking payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission."
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, "Haywire" also stars Channing Tatum, Ewan MacGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas, hitting theaters on January 20, 2012.

I'm actually surprised she has a lead role. Channing Tatum is already shit enough without someone with no acting experience as the co-star
Soderbergh has made some slick films, but this one already looks like a flop. I mean c’mon Michael Douglas has more acting ability than half the cast of this film and he’s in a supporting role

when channing tatum manages to act the lead off the screen
then i’d say the expectations are set very very low

Steven Soderbergh is a great director. This trailer is is really good and I can’t wait till January to see it.

So I don’t know what to think of this. If they keep her dialogue to a minimum and keep the action sequences kinda Bourne-esque like they seem to be, then it might actually be worth a watch. As to the OJR’s reference to Channing Tatum, I agree completely. Pulling for that to be the first scene of the movie and it ending with a brutal death.

I imagine they would keep her dialogue and range of emotions to a minimum. Just like he did with Sasha Grey in the Girlfriend Experience. They seemed to of surrounded her with good actors so they may help elevate her performance for her. Michael Douglus is one of those actors that can make not just his performance good but can elevate the performance of all the actors around him.

Gotta give it to Carano though, her main source of income was fighting. She realized that taking this movie with a not a great script but with great actors will definitely catapult her value in hollywood, good move on her part. Expect more with her in it as a tough beautiful girl in it! Ha damn Gina does is right, even if she gains weight i don’t give a shit she’s hot and knows how to work it and appears to be pretty smart.

The movie will do well if it gets lots of advertisements, but whether the movie does well or not will have nothing to do with Carano, and she’ll be relegated back to sideshow status. She won’t be a star.

Should be good, however, i didnt think that Gina was going to be the actual star of the film. Good luck to her and this film, may the haters eat their words. Soderbergh is no joke nad this is a big time film; the fact that a mixed martial artis that we all know is playing it, should not demean the film in any way. Keep in mind, millions of movie fans dont know who Gina is like we do; so millions of movie fans are seeing a new actress who could have potential, not a mixed martial artist turned actress.

Jennifer Garner is an awesome actress. But there’s only so much any actor can do with a script like Elektra or the latter seasons of ALIAS where the writing started to get silly. Look at Liam Neeson for example. Awesome actor, but Lucas’s dialogue was able to make even Neeson look stiff and corny.
Hilary Swank is very versatile and has proven she can screen “fight” in films like Million Dollar Baby, and The Next Karate Kid.

And I didn’t like ALIAS, to be completely honest. Watched about 6 episodes and just left it alone. As to Hillary Swank, Million Dollar Baby counts to the point about throwing a punch, but staging boxing choreography and the kind of fights in this trailer are much much different.

looks powerful but slow and not graceful
compared with ACTORS who use martial arts in their films. The fight scenes in Bourne and movies like that look so much faster and smoother than this. To me, this trailer is remniscent of a principal that Chuck Norris taught us long ago….being a real-life badass with real skills doesn’t always translate to the screen. Making it WORK and making it LOOK GOOD are two completely different things. People like Norris and Gina know how to actually get the job done IRL. People like Matt Damon and Jet Li know how to make it look cool but would get their asses handed to them all day long by a real fighter.

I think it's going to be brutal...
watch the first 10 scenes, she has the exact same expression on her face…kind of funny. I give her credit though because you can tell she is trying really hard to be serious about her role. I don’t think too much should be expected.

it might be one of those movies that are sooo bad, they become a “cult classic.” she doesn’t really talk much in the preview. Just a bunch of 4 word sentences. I think it’s going to be so bad that I can’t wait to see it.

Tatum seems to have a bit part in the movie which is good … Douglas and Banderas makes it worth watching … it gets my vote.
its is really amazing how many gina affects people . people either love her or many people are so jealous of her that their hatred is just dripping like venom. any real fan of wmma should be happy one of our stars has cross over ap[peal. this helps the sport grow esp for the ladies , and the top level ladies always put on exciting competitive fights, the women are nasty to each other and becaiuse ( except cyborg) they usually aren’t as strong as the men , their techniques are purer and more technically correct. the 115 and 135 pd are easily as stacked as the 125 and 135 pd mens div. any real fan of mma should be abel to list at least as manytop level girls @135 as there are men . in fact i bet its probably easier to list more women. i can only think of maybe 6 guys , and i,can think of easily 14 women . gina has never ever come across with an attitude like she is all that , in fact gina is usually a quiet shy respect ful person, or least every interview i’ve seen or read. i just don’t get hatred when its not earned by the person getting hated on. i think thisa show has potential , because even all these haters will go just so they can hate on her . but either way it all puts money in gina’s pocket and brings attention to wmma as well mma bringing attention to her movie, a win win for everyone ,
