This is the rematch.
Matt Wiman and Mac Danzig originally met at UFC 115 back in June 2010. The bout was mired in controversy when the referee called a stop to the bout thinking Danzig was unconscious after Wiman had applied a choke.
There was just one problem -- Mac daddy was awake and rather pissed that he was declared the loser in a fight he didn't actually lose.
The UFC attempted to book an immediate rematch but injuries prevented that from occurring. Over a full year later, the two will finally boogie at UFC on Versus 6, an event scheduled for sometime in Oct., although it has no venue or location.
The promotion announced the match-up today.
Wiman has fought twice since his controversial victory, having impressively battered Cole Miller in January of this year before dropping a contentious decision to Dennis Siver just this past July 2 in Las Vegas.
Every time he gets close to the upper echelon, he gets pulled back down the ladder.
Danzig, on the other hand, has fought just once over the last year, an amazing one-hitter quitter knockout over Joe Stevenson at UFC 124 that earned him "Knockout of the Night" honors back in Dec. 2010.
A chest injured sidelined him briefly earlier this year but he's back now and ready for revenge. Or something like that.
UFC on Versus 6 was recently revealed by the promotion as a third event that will take place in the month of October, adding to an already stacked month that will include UFC 136: "Edgar vs. Maynard 3" on Oct. 8 and UFC 137: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" on Oct. 29.
