In the wake of today's announcement that Frankie Edgar will square off against Gray Maynard for a trilogy fight at UFC 136 on Oct. 8 in Houston, Texas, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced today that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) specialist Demian Maia will take on former Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago on the same card.
Both fighters will be looking for redemption after coming off recent losses.
In Maia's last fight, he dropped a very close decision to Mark Munoz at UFC 131, despite showing a tremendous improvement in his stand-up game.
Santiago was brutally knocked out by Brian Stann in the second round of his last fight at UFC 130, which also served as his return to the promotion after spending several years on the Japanese circuit.
UFC 136 will feature the long awaited conclusion of the trilogy pitting Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar vs. number one contender Gray Maynard.
Also booked for "Space City" is a veritable number one middleweight contender clash between Chael Sonnen and "All American" Brian Stann.
