I think beating Randy mir and carwin to win and defend the title pretty much legitimizes him as he WAS one of the best. If not you must be claiming that no heavyweight UFC champ has ever been good prior to him, so I’d have to ask what is your basis of comparison to claim he wasn’t?

If they were the top 3 of the division when you fought them it absolutely does. Not necessarily an all time great but clearly the best UFC heavyweight for a decent amount of time, just bc he is not unbeatable or without weakness doesn’t make him a chump.

There are only 2 guys who would be heavily favored against him. The next 5 are fairly even $ on who would win. After that he is the clear favorite over anyone in the division. Seems like he is fairly accurately rated at around 5-8 in the heavyweight division.

He's not as good as he was made out to be but he's not as bad as others make him out to be either

Most people cant see the middle ground and he was either “the baddest man on the planet” or a “great hype job”.

I dont ever see him beating Velasquez, JDS, or some of the other top HW talents but take a look at the rankings people. Mir is #7, Big Nog is #11, Kongo is #15. These are “winnable fights” for Brock and that’s ptting it nicely.

Brck did what he needed to do, but he has a roughly 12 month rehab just to get to normal. Like you and me, normal. He had his fucking intestine removed for crap’s sake. He just turned 34 and would most likely not get a fight until he was 35. He doesn’t need the money. He has the gym. He has the brand. Maybe he pulls a Forrest and fights between books against Mir, Struve and Kongo (guys who he can ragdoll wrestling). I don’t see him ever signing to fight a guy who can punch and defend TD’s.

Maybe I am wrong, but I doubt it.
