Oh, boy.
Once again, every titleholder under the Bellator sun is going after recently exiled UFC middleweight and welterweight testosterone abuser Nate Marquardt.
Firing the opening salvo was Welterweight Champion Ben Askren, who outright called "The Great" a cheater and pleaded for the chance to teach him how to do things the good old fashioned way.
Now up to bat is Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard, who piggybacks off the "Funky" one's sentiments and echos his call to arms.
Here's what "Shango" had to say to Sherdog:
"Ben Askren said it all. I think [Marquardt] is a cheater, but [against] me, he can take all the drugs he wants. I'm going to whoop his ass anyway. I don't see him making [170]. ... He's a natural 185. He's been fighting at 185. At one point he was number two in the world at 185. There's no excuses anymore. Don't say you've got a contract with the UFC because he doesn't have it. He can take the fight and prove everybody wrong."
Thanks to his star power and track record in the sport, there's no doubt that if and when Marquardt signs with Bellator, he will immediately be inserted into a title shot against either Askren or Lombard.
But who deserves first crack?
Old Hector thinks it should be him for two reasons: he gets no respect at the moment and a win over Marquardt would earn him that and because Nate is a natural middleweight.
Enough to convince you that's the better fight? Or would you rather see Marquardt get funky with Askren?
Opinions, please.
