The live UFC on Versus 4 telecast began with a heavyweight tilt that pit rising prospect Matt Mitrione against fellow mid-card scrapper Christian Morecraft.
Both fighters engaged in some game pre-fight trash talk and thankfully, they both made it to the cage to slug out their differences.
It was Mitrione that backed up his big talk by going out and having his way with the beefy bumrusher, landing heavy blow after heavy blow until he chopped the tall tree down, knocking Morecraft out in the second round.
We did not, however, get to bear witness to Mitrione's vaunted ground game that he speaks so highly of.
Maybe next time.
Mitrione opened with his typical fast and loose style, which Morecraft found difficult to deal with.
"Meathead" dropped the big man multiple times, all while wearing that goofy but somehow endearing smile of his. It may have gotten under Morecraft's skin but there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it.
That's not for lack of trying. He attempted to get Mitrione to work the mat, taking him to the floor on several occasions.
He couldn't keep him there, though, and that's what he needed to do to win.
Add another to the win column for Mitrione, who is now a perfect 5-0, notching 4 knockouts along the way. He continues to impress.
