He's no "Cyborg" but he'll do.
While it was not made clear whether this would be a fight for the vacant welterweight championship that Nick Diaz left behind when he skipped town for the greener pastures of the UFC, it would seem to make the most sense.
Woodley, currently 8-0 in his still infant career, was on the cusp of a title shot and was widely expected to be the next challenger to Diaz in Strikeforce before he left to challenge Georges St. Pierre.
So why not put the 170-pound strap up for grabs against "Semtex?"
The last time Daley was in the cage, he was taking part in one of the craziest opening rounds in promotion history, swinging for the fences with Nick Diaz.
Unfortunately, it was Diaz that hit the home run, knocking Daley out to retain his welterweight title.
As previously noted, he's no longer with the San Jose based organization and left the belt behind for Daley to go after once again.
But will it be on the line when he gets down with Woodley on July 30? Stay tuned.
