Nate Marquardt has been released by the UFC.

Why? That much remains unclear. Here's what Dana White said in the video he put out announcing Marquardt's release:

"So I'm here at the weigh-ins, I'm sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out; it's true. He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC."

This declaration comes on the heels of the earlier announcement that Marquardt failed his physical and would not be able to compete tomorrow night in the main event of UFC on Versus 4 against Rick Story.

Details have been sketchy to say the least, but multiple outlets have reported that Nate's camp has stated that it's "nothing serious" and he would have been able to make the 170-pound limit in what would have been his welterweight debut.

However, it appears to be far more serious than originally painted, as White quickly took to Twitter to release the video stating Marquardt is out of the UFC.
