Strikeforce: "Overeem vs. Werdum" last night (June 18) in Dallas was headlined by the continuation of the heavyweight grand prix tournament but it was also supposed to feature something, or rather someone, else.

The return of Gina Carano.

"Conviction" was all set to make her glorious first appearance since sustaining a savage shellacking at the hands of Christiane Santos all the way back in 2009.

However, just 11 days before fight night, it was announced that she would not be participating on the card due to an undisclosed medical condition.

The mystery has remained since that day, as even the most astute of investigators have been unable to crack the case.

Following the conclusion of the event last night, Ariel Helwani asked Strikeforce General Manager Scott Coker if he had an update on Carano's situation and sure enough, he had a statement to read from her camp.

Did it finally shed some light on the situation? Read the statement and find out for yourself:

"Gina is feeling much better after having undergone some medical attention and is looking forward to getting back into training very soon. She would like to express thanks to Team Jackson for a wonderful training camp, Strikeforce, and the fans."

No light has been shed.

At the very least, though, it would seem whatever the issue was it was not as serious as initially thought. And from the sounds of it, she'll be back in action sooner rather than later.

Good news, right Maniacs?
