Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix tournament bracket updated after 'Overeem vs Werdum' results

Stay connected for news and updates

Here we have the updated Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix tournament bracket following the "Overeem vs. Werdum" event last night (June 18, 2011) in Dallas, Texas.

Alistair Overeem did indeed get his revenge (if you can call it that) on Fabricio Werdum by defeating him via weird unanimous decision in the main event at the American Airlines Center.

This sets up an interesting match-up against Antonio Silva, who is suddenly the hot pick to win the whole thing thanks to the dreadful performance turned in by "Demolition Man."

Over on the other side of the bracket, Josh Barnett grappled his way to the semifinals by forcing a "Grim" tapout in an easy-breezy submission victory over Brett Rogers.

"The Baby Faced Assassin" wasn't exactly tested and it's an intriguing subplot to his coming fight against Sergei Kharitonov, a much tougher dance partner, later this year.

Round one is in the books, Maniacs. Anyone still got a perfect bracket?
