"It's good for me, because the only thing he's going to be looking at is the doctor after this fight. He's going to have a tube in his mouth, getting rushed to the hospital. I really don't care. I'm not looking past him; I'm just looking at a goal. The ultimate goal is to be the best in the world, obviously, so if it's that close it's making me more motivated to train hard for this guy so I can get that title shot ... I move, I hit. The drunk fans don't want to see that, but that's what I do. I move my head. I don't get hit. I'm not a sock-em, rock-em type of guy ... I want to punch his face in, and then we'll get to whatever comes next."
Jorge Masvidal tells MMA Fighting he doesn't appreciate the fact that KJ Noons is already planning for a fight against Gilbert Melendez for the lightweight title prior to his June 18 bout against "Gamebred" under the Strikeforce banner in Dallas. The former Bellator standout is a slight underdog heading into their 155-scrap and doesn't intend to give the "drunk fans" something to cheer for on fight night. Can Masvidal outstrike Noons and stake his claim to "El Nino's" title? Or will he be in for a rude awakening on fight night?
