UFC 134: Antonio Carvalho (not Mackens Semerzier) to face Yuri Alcantara on Aug. 27 in Rio

It's about time.

Featherweight standout Antonio Carvalho, fresh off a decision win at the Score Fighting Series, has been signed by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and booked to face former Jungle Fight champion Yuri Alcantara at UFC 134: "Rio" on Aug. 27 in Brazil.

Tatame.com brought word of the pending match-up earlier today.

Carvalho, 32, made his name in the Shooto ring, facing and defeating the likes of Rumina Sato and "Lion" Takeshi Inoue in addition to upsetting world-ranked Hatsu Hioki.

After a two-fight losing streak and a sabbatical that saw him stay out of the ring for all of 2009, the Canadian has assembled three straight wins and will look to keep his momentum going this August.

Alcantara, who was originally rumored to face Mackens Semerzier, will be making his UFC debut at featherweight after a successful run at lightweight, winning 11 straight with 10 stoppages (including a submission win over Constrictor Team megaprospect Francisco "Massaranduba" Drinaldo for the Jungle Fight title).

25 of his 28 fights have ended in stoppages.

It's a bit overdue, but it's good to see "Pato" make his way to the big stage.
