Now that Shane Carwin has officially been relegated to the back of the line in the heavyweight title hunt thanks to his loss to Junior dos Santos last night (June 11) at UFC 131 in Vancouver, who should he fight next?
He's in the unique position of holding a high ranking but having lost two in a row. Sort of like a certain other heavyweight contender on a similar slide.
Dana White was asked what he thought of that potential match-up at the "Dos Santos vs. Carwin" post-fight press conference:
"I haven't (given that any thought). I really haven't thought about it yet. Sat down and talked to Roy about a week ago and obviously Carwin just lost and he's pretty busted up. He's going to be out for a little while, so we'll see what happens. But it's a possibility, anything could happen."
That means he'll be hanging around with the heavyweights, with very few match-ups in front of him that make any sense.
One of them would undoubtedly be a fight against Carwin, whom he was initially booked to square off against on the New Year's Day event earlier this year.
Anyone interested in a belly-to-bicep battle royal between "The Engineer" and "Big Country" when they both make their respective returns? Or are there better options out there? Sound off, Maniacs.
