Two welterweight bangers took to the cage tonight, May 28, 2011, at UFC 130: "Rampage vs. Hamill" live on pay-per-view, when Thiago Alves and Rick Story got dirty in "Sin City."
And it delivered ... kind of.
The "Dolce Diet" may have served to get Alves down to the 170-pound limit but it couldn't get him ready for the grappling prowess Story brought to the table tonight.
Oh, the "Horror."
The "Pitbull" certainly wasn't blown out, as he managed to land several meaningful shots throughout the fight; however, once again, wrestling is the bane of his mixed martial arts existence.
Rick Story didn't just come into Las Vegas to wrestle his way to a boring three-round unanimous decision win. He wasn't afraid to stand straight in the pocket and trade with the dangerous Brazilian knockout artist.
And he absorbed shot after shot after shot after shot ... after shot.
Never was this more evident than in the third round, when Story, like a zombie, just kept coming forward, pushing through some vicious punches and knees from Thiago.
Unfortunately for Alves, it was too little, too late and now it's back to the drawing board.
How far can Rick Story make it in the crowded welterweight division?
Stay tuned.
