UFC on Versus 5: Leonard Garcia vs Alex Caceres booked for Aug. 14 in Milwaukee
Fun, fun.
A couple of featherweight bangers have verbally agreed to square off, as Leonard Garcia is set to take on Alex Caceres at the upcoming UFC on Versus 5 event going down Aug. 14 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The promotion brought word of the pending match-up earlier today.
Garcia, who hasn't won consecutive fights since 2008 but whose job will never be in jeopardy on account of his rock 'em sock 'em style, was last in the cage suffering a spine shattering submission loss at the hands of Chan Sung Jung.
"The Korean Zombie" wrapped up "Bad Boy" for the first Twister tapout finish in UFC history. It also represented the rare submission posterization.
Recovery starts in Milwaukee against starving artist "Bruce Leeroy."
Caceres advanced to the quarterfinals of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 by submitting Jeff Lentz, however; "Bruce Leeroy" came up short in the semifinals when he was defeated by Michael Johnson via unanimous decision.
As with most entertaining but inexperienced fighters out of the TUF house, he was given a chance to redeem himself against Mackens Semerzier back in March at UFC Fight Night 24.
He was choked out inside of four minutes.
Never mind that, though, he's back and ready to get at 'em up in "Brew City."
UFC on Versus 5 will feature a bevy of marquee match ups, including Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle in the main event of the evening, as well as Jim Miller vs. Ben Henderson and Stephan Bonnar vs. Karlos Vemola.

Garcia destroys this guy
This kid has horrible submission defense, he’s no powerhouse and his striking isn’t impressive,
Have Fun Leonard

damn, what happened to the rematch with the guy that beat him but didn't get the decision.
I can’t help routing for the underdog. Go Leroy …. yay!
Are you asking about his fight with Korean Zombie?
KZ won via twister(Spinal Lock),very underutilized in MMA, I try to encorporate slick moves like that in the gym.

Think maybe he's talking about Nam Phan
and he was booked against Mike Brown, I believe.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

Good reason for it being underutilized. Because it leaves you open for a counter and bad situations.

and you ultimately have to give up going for a very high percentage submission (r n c,severn) to go for a sub with a way lower chance of getting the finish.

Also if the move is performed wrongly
You leave yourself open for and easy reversal from your opponent, who ultimately ends up on top.

it should be used more
fighters are always thinking about back control, getting hooks in, etc…it’s nice to throw a curveball and set up a Twister because it’s unexpected.
i dont think it’s that risky a move.
Fighting solves everything.
Requires too much set up to go for often

I was surprised Leonard didn't see it coming.
I had never heard of a twister so I’m not surprised I didn’t see it but Garcia I thought would be the stronger grappler of the two so I was surprised he got caught
Has a sig bet with Californication for Wiman/Siver at UFC 132

you set it up right from back control.
if you can’t get that 2nd hook in, just lock down 1 leg. I think most guys dont go for it because the back control with hooks in feels more natural.
Fighting solves everything.
The greater the risk, the greater the reward...
Going for something out of the norm has its benefits. Most guys practice defending the usual / more common submissions and don’t spend much time on the less popular / more risky subs. I think it’s a great idea to throw something at your opponent that you rarely see in the octagon to catch them off guard. Although it’s risky, it’s also about the timing IMO
