Some "snow" is headed for Texas next month.
Shane Del Rosario was originally scheduled to meet "DC" at the event; however, a car accident forced him out of action for an indefinite period of time.
Stepping in is Monson (42-11), who recently told MMAmania.com he wanted to get back into the UFC after a five-year absence and he would even be willing to drop down to light heavyweight to do so.
"The Snowman," winner of eight consecutive fights, might have an even better inroad in the form of budding undefeated prospect Cormier. Would a win send him back to the big leagues?
Cormier, an active mixed martial arts competitor for less than two years, has amassed a perfect record of 7-0 during that time, finishing six of his seven opponents.
The Olympic level wrestler has been on the slow track in the depth-challenged Strikeforce heavyweight division but he's getting a big step up here.
Is "DC" up for the challenge? Stay tuned.
Strikeforce: "Overeem vs. Werdum" will feature the continuation of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix as division champion Alistair Overeem tries to eliminate Fabricio Werdum while fellow PRIDE veteran Josh Barnett takes on the hard-hitting Brett Rogers.
