Trevor Fitzgerald, who won a contest just to get to go to UFC 129 on April 30, 2011, in Toronto, tried his luck by asking Dana White if he would let him put the welterweight championship around St. Pierre's waist if the French-Canadian were to emerge victorious. White said yes and they exchanged information. Lo and behold, after GSP won a five-round decision over Jake Shields, Fitzgerald climbed inside the Octagon and did his duty for the night.
