Untitled2

(Pic) of Mark Hominick's tomato-sized hematoma that he suffered at the hands of featherweight champion Jose Aldo tonight in their five-round war at UFC 129 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. How he was able to continue, let alone storm back to win the fifth round, is beyond words.

My theory is that his body recognized the damage Aldo was doing to his head...

And instinctively attempted to grow a new one.

That tomato-sized swollen head is a result of kicks or punches?

help, need science.

how the shit does that actually happen? i remember hasim rahman gettin one of those fighting holyfield. how exactly does it happen?

Hematoma is basically blood

when you receive a punch in the head there are some blood vessel that explode creating a prominence.
Hematomas in the head are actually a good sign… considering that the blood don’t leakedt to the brain.

Am I the only one who thinks this fight could have been a draw?

I had it 3-1 Aldo going into the 5th, and gave Homonick 10-8 for the 5th.

I thought it was closer than I think the judges gave it

I think Hominick probably outworked Aldo in one of the rounds when he wasn’t dropped. I can’t really remember but Aldo was slow for a lot of the fight. That would make 2 rounds at least.

I don't think so

The one round where I thought Hominick was getting the better of it, Aldo knocked him down and took it.

I had it 48-46 Aldo; two judges had it 48-46 and 48-45, which I can agree with.

Depending on how much he got the better of it, most knockdowns don't really sway me in that way

I can’t remember though and I doubt any rounds except the 5th were decisive for Mark.
